प्रभु येसु ख्रीस्त में प्यारे भाइयों और बहनों,

पहला पाठ हमें सिखाता है कि हमारा प्रेम दिखावे का न हो, बल्कि सच्चा हो। हमें एक-दूसरे की भलाई करनी चाहिए। हमें सेवा करनी चाहिए। हमें आशा में खुश रहना चाहिए। दुःख में धैर्य रखना चाहिए। प्रार्थना में निष्ठावान होना चाहिए। संत पौलुस हमें भाईचारे, नम्रता और सहानुभूति की सीख देते हैं।

सुसमाचार में हम देखते हैं कि माँ मरियम को जब पता चला कि वह येसु को जन्म देने वाली हैं, तो वह तुरंत एलिशिबा से मिलने गईं। माता मरियम गर्भवती थीं, लेकिन उन्होंने अपनी परेशानी नहीं देखी। उन्होंने एलिशिबा की मदद को ज़रूरी समझा। जब माता मरियम ने एलिशिबा को प्रणाम किया, तो एलिशिबा का बच्चा खुशी से उछल पड़ा। तब मरियम ने ईश्वर की स्तुति गायी।

दोनों पाठ हमें सिखाते हैं कि प्रेम सिर्फ शब्दों में नहीं, बल्कि कर्मों में दिखना चाहिए। रोमियों में संत पौलुस कहते हैं कि हमें एक-दूसरे से प्रेम करना चाहिए और जरूरतमंदों की मदद करनी चाहिए। लूका के सुसमाचार में मरियम हमें यह करके दिखाती हैं। वे गर्भवती होते हुए भी एलिशिबा की सेवा के लिए दौड़ पड़ती हैं।

हमें भी माता मरियम और संत पौलुस की इस शिक्षा को अपने जीवन में अपनाना चाहिए। परिवार में, समाज में और कलीसिया में हमें एक-दूसरे की मदद करनी चाहिए। अगर कोई बीमार है, तो उसकी देखभाल करें। अगर कोई दुखी है, तो उसे सांत्वना दें। अगर कोई परेशानी में है, तो उसकी मदद करें। येसु ने भी हमें यही सिखाया। प्रेम का सच्चा रूप सेवा में है।

मरियम और एलिशिबा का मिलन हमें बताता है कि जब हम प्रेम और सेवा में आगे बढ़ते हैं, तो ईश्वर हमारे साथ होते हैं। माता मरियम ने एलिज़ाबेथ की सेवा बिना किसी स्वार्थ के की। यही सच्चा प्रेम है। जब हम निस्वार्थ सेवा करते हैं, तो ईश्वर हमें आशीर्वाद देते हैं। अगर हम किसी भूखे को खाना खिलाते हैं, किसी दुखी को दिलासा देते हैं, या किसी बीमार की सेवा करते हैं, तो हम येसु के प्रेम को दूसरों तक पहुँचाते हैं। छोटी-छोटी सेवाएँ भी ईश्वर की नजर में बड़ी होती हैं। इसलिए, हमें हर दिन छोटे-छोटे अच्छे काम करने चाहिए, क्योंकि प्रेम और सेवा से ही ईश्वर का राज्य बढ़ता है।

आइए, हम भी सेवा और प्रेम का जीवन जिएँ। आमेन।

Beloved Brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ,

Today's first reading teaches us that love should not be fake but sincere and genuine. St. Paul instructs us, “Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer”. He emphasizes true love, service, patience, and humility. A true Christian does not live only for himself but also for the good of others. We must embrace the values of service and love in our daily lives.

In today’s Gospel, we witness the beautiful encounter between Mary and Elizabeth. After the angel Gabriel announced to Mary that she would become the mother of the Son of God, she humbly accepted God’s will. Immediately afterward, Mary set out to visit Elizabeth, forgetting her own difficulties. She knew that her relative Elizabeth was also pregnant and needed help. This teaches us that love is not just about words; it must be shown through actions. When Mary greeted Elizabeth, the child in Elizabeth’s womb leaped for joy, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. She exclaimed, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb” Luke 1:42. In response, Mary sang the “Magnificat,” praising God’s greatness and mercy.

Both readings convey the message of love and service. In Romans, St. Paul urges us, “Let love be genuine. Hate what is evil; hold fast to what is good” (Romans 12:9). In Luke’s Gospel, Mary embodies this teaching by showing selfless love and service. She does not think of herself but immediately goes to help Elizabeth. We, too, are called to love selflessly.

How often do we become so caught up in our own concerns that we ignore the struggles of others? We may think that helping others is a burden or a waste of time. But Mary teaches us that true love is expressed through selfless service. When we care for the sick, feed the hungry, or comfort the sorrowful, we bring the love of Jesus to others. “Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me” Mat 25:40.

The meeting of Mary and Elizabeth reminds us that when we act with love and service, God fills us with His grace. Mary selflessly served Elizabeth without expecting anything in return, and in doing so, she experienced the joy of praising God. When we help others without selfish motives, we, too, receive God’s blessings. Even small acts of service are great in God’s eyes. When we live with love, we help build God's Kingdom. Let us take inspiration from Mary and commit ourselves to a life of love and service. Amen.
