आज के दोनों पाठ हमें एक गहरा सत्य सिखाते हैं, और वह यह है कि सच्ची शांति केवल प्रभु येसुमें ही पाई जा सकती है। पहले पाठ में हम देखते हैं कि पौलुस और बरनबास ने अपने प्रेरितिक कार्य में कितनी कठिनाइयों का सामना किया। लुस्त्रा में पौलुस को इतनी बुरी तरह पीटा गया कि लोगों ने समझा वह मर गया है और उसे वहाँ छोड़ दिया। फिर भी, इन सबके बावजूद उन्होंने हिम्मत नहीं हारी। वे उठ खड़े हुए, शहर, लौटे और अपने मिशन को जारी रखा। उनका साहस और आत्मिक सामर्थ्य कहाँ से आया? यह उनकी परिस्थितियों से नहीं, बल्कि प्रभु येसु परउनके अटल विश्वास से आया।

यही बात येसु अपने चेलों को सुसमाचार में समझाते हैं। मैं तुम्हें अपनी शांति देता हूँ, जैसे संसार नहीं देता। संसार की शांति परिस्थितियों पर निर्भर करती है, लेकिन येसु की दी हुई शांति हर स्थिति में अडिग रहती है। पौलुस और बरनबास ने इसी शांति का अनुभव किया, जिसने उन्हें हर कठिनाई में मजबूत बनाए रखा।

हमारे जीवन में भी हम कई बार चुनौतियों, चिंताओं, भय और अनिश्चितताओं का सामना करते हैं। लेकिन जब हम पूरी तरह से अपना विश्वास और आशा प्रभु में रखते हैं, तो हमें ऐसी शांति प्राप्त होती है जो बाहरी परिस्थितियों से प्रभावित नहीं होती। यही शांति न केवल हमें सहनशीलता देती है, बल्कि हमें दूसरों को उत्साहित करने की सामर्थ्य भी देती है, जैसे पौलुस और बरनबास ने किया। इसलिए आइए हम अपने हृदय को प्रभु के प्रेम और अनुग्रह से भर लें और उसकी शांति में दृढ़ बने रहें।

Today’s readings reveal a profound truth: true and lasting peace can be found only in the Lord Jesus.

In the first reading, we witness how Paul and Barnabas, amidst their apostolic mission, endured immense trials. At Lystra, Paul was so brutally beaten that he was presumed dead and left behind. Yet, despite such severe suffering, they did not lose heart. Paul rose, returned to the city, and continued the mission undeterred.

What was the source of their courage and resilience? It was not drawn from favorable circumstances, but from their steadfast faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

This is precisely what Jesus explains to His disciples in today’s Gospel: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you.”

The peace the world offers is fleeting, dependent on external situations. But the peace Jesus gives remains firm and unshaken, even amid trials. Paul and Barnabas lived this reality—their strength was rooted in Christ’s enduring peace, which sustained them through all adversity.

We too face moments of fear, anxiety, and uncertainty in our lives. But when we entrust ourselves completely to the Lord, we receive a peace that transcends circumstances—a peace that not only gives us the strength to persevere but also inspires and uplifts others, just as Paul and Barnabas did.

Let us, therefore, open our hearts to the love and grace of Christ. Let us remain firm in His peace, allowing it to shape our thoughts, guide our actions, and sustain us in all seasons of life.
