प्रभु येसु ख्रीस्त में प्यारे भाइयों और बहनों,

आज हम प्रभु येसु के स्वर्गारोहण का पर्व मना रहे हैं। यह वह दिन है जब येसु अपने शिष्यों के सामने स्वर्ग चले गए। यह घटना केवल उनके पृथ्वी से जाने की नहीं है, बल्कि यह हमारे लिए एक नई यात्रा की शुरुआत भी है। येसु ने अपने मिशन को पूरा कर लिया, लेकिन अब वे अपने शिष्यों और हम सभी को उनका कार्य जारी रखने की ज़िम्मेदारी सौंपते हैं।

पहले पाठ में हम देखते हैं कि पुनरुत्थान के बाद, येसु अपने शिष्यों को पवित्र आत्मा की प्रतिज्ञा देते हैं। वे उन्हें सिखाते हैं कि अब उनका कार्य है दुनिया को सुसमाचार सुनाना। उन्होंने कहा: “पवित्र आत्मा तुम पर उतरेगा और तुम शक्ति प्राप्त करोगे। तुम पृथ्वी के छोर तक मेरे साक्षी बनोगे” (प्रेरित चरित 1:8)। इसके बाद, येसु शिष्यों के देखते-देखते स्वर्ग चले जाते हैं। शिष्य आकाश की ओर देखते रहते हैं, लेकिन तभी दो स्वर्गदूत प्रकट होते हैं और पूछते हैं: “गलीली पुरुषों, तुम यहाँ खड़े आकाश की ओर क्यों ताक रहे हो?” (प्रेरित चरित 1:11)। यह हमें सिखाता है कि केवल स्वर्ग की ओर देखने से कुछ नहीं होगा, बल्कि हमें धरती पर येसु के कार्य को आगे बढ़ाना है। येसु ने जो शिक्षा दी, उसे हमें अपने जीवन में अपनाना है और दुनिया में प्रचारित करना है।

दूसरा पाठ हमें बताता है कि येसु अब स्वर्ग में हमारे लिए मध्यस्थता कर रहे हैं। वे पुराने नियम के याजकों की तरह बार-बार बलिदान नहीं चढ़ाते, बल्कि उन्होंने एक ही बार (इब्रानियों 9:26) अपना बलिदान दिया। इसलिए अब हमारे पास ईश्वर के पास आने का आत्मविश्वास है (इब्रानियों 10:19)। येसु ने अपने रक्त द्वारा स्वर्ग का मार्ग हमारे लिए खोल दिया है। अब हम बिना डर और संकोच के ईश्वर के पास आ सकते हैं। यह हमें सिखाता है कि येसु अब भी हमारे साथ हैं, वे हमें कभी नहीं छोड़ते।

सुसमाचार में, स्वर्गारोहण से पहले येसु अपने शिष्यों को एक महत्वपूर्ण मिशन सौंपते हैं। वे कहते हैं: “सभी राष्ट्रों में उनके नाम से पश्चात्ताप और पापों की क्षमा का प्रचार किया जाएगा” (लूकस 24:47)। इसके बाद, वे शिष्यों को आशीर्वाद देकर स्वर्ग चले जाते हैं। लेकिन ध्यान देने वाली बात यह है कि शिष्य निराश या दुखी नहीं होते। “वे बड़े आनंद के साथ येरूसालेम लौट गए और सदा मंदिर में रहकर ईश्वर की स्तुति करने लगे” (लूकस 24:52-53)।

यह हमें सिखाता है कि येसु के जाने के बाद भी उनका कार्य जारी रहता है। शिष्य जानते थे कि येसु उन्हें अकेला नहीं छोड़ेंगे। स्वर्गारोहण हमें क्या सिखाता है?

1. यह हमें कार्य करने के लिए बुलाता है। येसु ने हमें दुनिया में उनकी खुशखबरी फैलाने की ज़िम्मेदारी दी है। हमें अपने विश्वास को केवल अपने तक सीमित नहीं रखना चाहिए, बल्कि इसे दूसरों तक पहुँचाना चाहिए।
2. येसु हमारे साथ हैं। वे हमें अकेला नहीं छोड़ते। वे हमारे लिए स्वर्ग में प्रार्थना कर रहे हैं और हमें पवित्र आत्मा की शक्ति देते हैं।
3. हम स्वर्ग के लिए बने हैं। हमारा अंतिम लक्ष्य इस पृथ्वी पर नहीं, बल्कि ईश्वर के साथ स्वर्ग में है। येसु ने हमारे लिए मार्ग खोल दिया है, अब हमें उस मार्ग पर चलना है।

आइए, हम येसु के स्वर्गारोहण से प्रेरणा लें। हम अपने जीवन में विश्वास, प्रेम और सेवा को बढ़ाएँ। हमें केवल स्वर्ग की ओर देखने के बजाय, पृथ्वी पर अपने कर्तव्यों को निभाना है। येसु हमें बुलाते हैं कि हम उनके साक्षी बनें और सुसमाचार का प्रचार करें। आइए, हम भी येसु के प्रेम और प्रकाश को दुनिया में फैलाएँ। आमेन।

Beloved Brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ,

Today, we celebrate the Solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord, the day when Jesus was taken up into heaven before His disciples. This is not just the end of His earthly journey but the beginning of a new mission for His followers. Our readings today help us understand the deeper meaning of this event and its impact on our faith.

In the first reading, we see Jesus speaking to His disciples after His resurrection, preparing them for what is to come. Before ascending, He gives them a powerful promise: “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be my witnesses to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8). Then, as they watch, Jesus is lifted up and taken into heaven. The disciples stand there, looking at the sky, perhaps wondering what to do next. Suddenly, two angels appear and ask: “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking up toward heaven? This Jesus will return in the same way as you saw Him go into heaven” (Acts 1:11).

This passage reminds us that the Ascension is not about Jesus leaving us; it is about Him preparing the way for us as Jesus says in John 14:6 “I am the way, the truth, and the life”. The second reading tells us that Jesus is now in heaven, interceding for us. He is our high priest, not offering sacrifices again and again like the priests of the Old Testament, but having sacrificed Himself "once for all" (Heb 9:26). Because of this, we have confidence to enter God’s presence (Heb 10:19). We are no longer separated from God; Jesus has made the way for us. The Ascension is not Jesus leaving us behind it is Jesus opening the doors of heaven for us.

In the Gospel, before ascending, Jesus gives His disciples one final instruction: “Repentance and forgiveness of sins is to be proclaimed in His name to all nations” (Luke 24:47). Then, He blesses them and is taken up into heaven. But notice what happens next: “They returned to Jerusalem with great joy, and they were continually in the temple blessing God” (Luke 24:52-53). The disciples were not sad that Jesus left them. They were filled with joy, knowing that His mission continued through them.

The Ascension teaches us three important lessons:

1. The Ascension is a Call to Action – We are not meant to just look up at the sky but to live out our faith. Jesus has given us a mission—to share His love and message with the world.
2. Jesus is Always With Us – Though He is in heaven, He is not far from us. He is interceding for us, and through the Holy Spirit, He gives us strength.
3. We Are Meant for Heaven – The Ascension reminds us that our final home is not this world but with God. Jesus has prepared the way for us.

Let us not just look up in admiration but step forward in faith. May we live as witnesses of Christ, spreading His love until He returns in glory. Amen.
