ख्रिस्त में प्रिय भाइयो और बहनो,

प्रभु के प्रति प्रेम एक सच्चे शिष्य की विशेष पहचान होती है। जो प्रभु से प्रेम करता है, वह उसे और उसके वचनों पर हर परिस्थिति में विश्वास करता है। विश्वास प्रेम से उत्पन्न होता है और धीरे-धीरे विश्वास को दृढ़ आस्था में परिवर्तित कर देता है। ख्रिस्तीय जीवन में प्रेम से विश्वास, विश्वास से आस्था और आस्था से सेवा के जीवन की प्रक्रिया होती है, जो हमें प्रभु के शिष्य के रूप में योग्य बनाती है।

आज पवित्र कलीसिया हमारे सामने तीन प्रमुख विश्वास के आदर्श व्यक्तियों को प्रस्तुत करती है, जिन्होंने अपने शिष्यत्व को प्रभु के प्रति प्रेम, उसकी उपस्थिति की खोज और उसकी सेवा के द्वारा प्रकट किया। हाँ, बेथानी का परिवार – मरियम, मार्था और लाज़रुस महान शिष्यत्व के आदर्श हैं। सुसमाचार से हम सीखते हैं कि मार्था प्रभु के आगमन पर उनकी आवश्यकताओं की देखभाल करती थी, मरियम प्रभु के चरणों में बैठकर ध्यानपूर्वक उनकी बातें सुनती थी और लाज़रुस प्रभु का प्रिय मित्र था।

प्रभु के प्रति उनके कट्टर प्रेम और निकटता ने मार्था को अपने भाई की मृत्यु पर यह घोषणा करने की शक्ति दी: “हाँ प्रभु! मैं दृढ़ विश्वास करती हूँ कि आप वह मसीह, ईश्वर के पुत्र हैं, जो संसार में आने वाले थे” (योहन 11:27)। यही प्रेम, विश्वास और आस्था ने मार्था और मरियम को जीवन की कठिनाइयों का सामना करने का साहस दिया, और यही मित्रता लाज़रुस को पुनर्जीवित करने का कारण बनी।

बेथानी के परिवार से हम अपने जीवन के लिए कई मूल्यवान सीख प्राप्त कर सकते हैं। सबसे पहले, हमें प्रभु से अत्यधिक प्रेम करना चाहिए और इसे मानवता की सेवा के माध्यम से प्रकट करना चाहिए। दूसरा, ख्रिस्तीय जीवन कठिनाइयों से मुक्त नहीं होता, लेकिन हमें हर परिस्थिति में विश्वास को दृढ़ रखना चाहिए, क्योंकि विश्वास एक लंगर के समान है जो हमें जीवन की कठिन लहरों के बीच स्थिर रखता है। अंत में, प्रभु के साथ हमारी निकटता जीवन को पुनर्जीवित करने वाली औषधि है। ख्रिस्तीय शिष्यत्व हमसे यह माँग करता है कि हम प्रभु से प्रेम करें, उसे ध्यानपूर्वक सुनें, उदारता से उसकी सेवा करें और दृढ़ता से उसका अनुसरण करें।

आज के पाठ हमें तीन महत्वपूर्ण शिक्षाएँ देते हैं:

1. प्रभु के प्रति प्रेम हमें सच्चे शिष्य बनाता है और सेवा के लिए प्रेरित करता है।
2. विश्वास हमें जीवन की कठिनाइयों में स्थिर और साहसी बनाए रखता है।
3. प्रभु के साथ निकटता हमें नया जीवन और उद्देश्य देती है।

आइए, हम प्रभु से प्रार्थना करें कि वे हमें बेथानी परिवार के समान प्रेम, विश्वास और सेवा में दृढ़ रहने की कृपा प्रदान करें। आमेन।

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ Jesus,

Love for the Lord is a very distinctive characteristic of a true disciple. The one who loves the Lord believes him and his words in whatever circumstances the life may bring forth. One’s belief originates and is seasoned by the love one has for the Lord which gradually turns to take the form of faith. So, in our Christian life there is a series of progress from love to belief, belief to faith, and faith to life of service that determines the worth of our lives as Christ’s disciples.

Today the Holy Mother Church presents before us three prominent models of faith who demonstrated their discipleship through loving the Lord, seeking his presence, and serving his needs at various occasions. Yes, the Bethany Family of Mary, Martha, and Lazarus stand out as great models of discipleship. From the gospel accounts we learn that Martha attended to the needs of the Lord at his arrival, Mary sat at the foot of the Lord and listened to him very closely, and Lazarus had a cordial friendship with the Lord as it is evident that his death made the Lord to weep with grief. The radical love and closeness with the Lord made Martha to proclaim at her brother’s death, “Yes, Lord; I believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God” (Jn.11:27). The love, belief, faith, and personal closeness with the Lord gave Martha and Mary the strength to face their challenges in life with courage; the same kind of friendship with the Lord restored the life of Lazarus as well.

There is a lot of values we can draw for our life from this Bethany family. Firstly, as disciples of Christ we need to love the Lord above all else which must be demonstrated in our humble service to the humanity. Secondly, our pilgrim journey as Christians is not without struggles and hardships, even in such adverse circumstances we should stay strong in our faith because faith is like an anchor which helps a ship to stay steady even in the midst of tossing tides. Lastly, our closeness with the Lord is the lifesaving medicine that can restore life. Our Christian discipleship demands that we love the Lord fondly, listen to him attentively, serve him generously, and follow him closely.

Today’s readings teach us three important lessons:

1. Love for the Lord makes us true disciples and inspires us to serve.
2. Faith keeps us steadfast and courageous in life’s challenges.
3. Closeness with the Lord grants us new life and purpose.

Let us pray that God grants us the grace to remain steadfast in love, faith, and service, like the Bethany family. May God bless us all. Amen.
