ख्रिस्त में प्रिय भाइयो और बहनो,

आज के सुसमाचार में हम उस घटना को देखते हैं जिसमें प्रभु येसु समुद्र के पानी पर चलते हैं। शिष्य यह समझ ही नहीं सके और विश्वास नहीं कर पाए कि प्रभु उफनती समुद्री लहरों पर चल रहे थे। पेत्रुस ने जब उन्हें पहचाना, तो वह भी पानी पर चलना चाहता था, और उसने चलना शुरू भी किया। लेकिन जैसे ही उसने संदेह किया, वह डूबने लगा, जब तक कि प्रभु ने उसका हाथ पकड़कर उसे बचा नहीं लिया।

यह घटना हमें यह महत्वपूर्ण शिक्षा देती है कि हमें हमेशा प्रभु पर विश्वास रखना चाहिए, भले ही जीवन हमें असहनीय कठिनाइयों में डाल दे। जीवन में ऐसे क्षण आ सकते हैं जब हमें भय, भविष्य की चिंता, बीमारी, आर्थिक संकट, अनिश्चित भविष्य या व्यवसाय में विफलता जैसी समस्याएँ हमें हिला सकती हैं। ये सभी चीज़ें हमें संदेह और अविश्वास में डुबा सकती हैं और हमारी आध्यात्मिक शक्ति को कमजोर कर सकती हैं। ऐसे क्षणों में जब हम असफल होते हैं और गिरते हैं, तब प्रभु येसु के शब्द हमें चेतावनी देनी चाहिए: “अरे अल्प-विश्वासी, तुम संदेह क्यों करते हो?”

पहले पाठ में, गणना की पुस्तक हमें मरियम और हारून के मूसा के खिलाफ बोलने की घटना बताती है। उनकी ईर्ष्या और शिकायतों के बावजूद, मूसा ने विनम्रता के साथ प्रभु की मध्यस्थता की, और ईश्वर ने मरियम को चंगा किया। यह हमें सिखाता है कि प्रभु की उपस्थिति और उनकी शक्ति पर भरोसा करने से हमारी कमज़ोरियाँ और संदेह दूर हो सकते हैं।

रोम में संत मैरी मेजर महागिरजाघर का समर्पण, जिसे हम आज स्मरण करते हैं, हमें माता मरियम की विश्वास और समर्पण की याद दिलाता है। वह प्रभु की इच्छा के प्रति पूर्ण विश्वास के साथ खड़ी रहीं और हमें भी यही करने की प्रेरणा देती हैं।

आज के पाठ हमें तीन महत्वपूर्ण शिक्षाएँ देते हैं:

1. प्रभु पर दृढ़ विश्वास हमें जीवन की कठिनाइयों में स्थिर रखता है।
2. संदेह और भय हमारी आध्यात्मिक शक्ति को कमज़ोर करते हैं, लेकिन प्रभु हमें बचाने के लिए हमेशा उपस्थित हैं।
3. प्रभु की सतत उपस्थिति को पहचानकर और उनकी शक्ति पर भरोसा करके हम अपने संदेहों पर विजय पा सकते हैं।

आइए, हम प्रभु से प्रार्थना करें कि वे हमें माता मरियम और पेत्रुस की तरह दृढ़ विश्वास के साथ जीने और उनके बचाने वाले हाथ पर भरोसा करने की कृपा दें। क्या हम अब भी संदेह करते हैं? आमेन।

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ Jesus,

In today’s gospel, we find Jesus walking on the water. The disciples could not understand or believe that the Lord was walking on the waters of the tossing sea waves. The moment Peter recognized Him, he wanted to walk on the water and did so. But the moment he doubted, he began to drown until the Lord stretched His hand and rescued him.

This incident teaches us a great lesson to trust in the Lord always, even when life brings unbearable challenges. There can be moments in life when we are tossed by the waves of fear, anxiety about the future, sickness, financial crisis, an uncertain future, failure in business, etc. All these can make us drown in doubt and disbelief, draining our spiritual strength and energy. In such moments, when we fail and fall, the words of Jesus should ring an alarm in our ears: “O you of little faith, why do you doubt?”

In the first reading, the Book of Numbers recounts the episode of Miriam and Aaron speaking against Moses. Despite their jealousy and complaints, Moses interceded with humility, and God healed Miriam. This teaches us that trusting in God’s presence and power can overcome our weaknesses and doubts.

The Dedication of Saint Mary Major in Rome, which we commemorate today, reminds us of the Blessed Virgin Mary’s unwavering faith and trust in God’s will. She stood firm in her faith, inspiring us to do the same.

Today’s readings teach us three important lessons:

1. Steadfast faith in God keeps us steady in life’s challenges.
2. Doubt and fear weaken our spiritual strength, but God is always present to save us.
3. By recognizing God’s constant presence and trusting in His power, we can overcome our doubts.

Let us pray that, like the Blessed Virgin Mary and Peter, we may live with unwavering faith and trust in God’s saving hand. Do we still doubt? Amen.
