“व्यर्थ ही व्यर्थ”
उपदेशक 1:2-11 लूका 9:7-9
आज के पहले पाठ में हम सुनते हैं— “व्यर्थ ही व्यर्थ, सब कुछ व्यर्थ है।” उपदेशक मनुष्य के जीवन, उसके परिश्रम और उपलब्धियों पर प्रश्न उठाता है। सूर्य के नीचे मनुष्य जितना भी श्रम करे, अंततः उसे क्या स्थायी लाभ मिलता है? यह विचार हमें स्मरण कराता है कि इस संसार की सभी वस्तुएँ परिवर्तनशील हैं; केवल परमेश्वर ही शाश्वत और अटल हैं।
सुसमाचार में हम देखते हैं कि यीशु की शिक्षा, उपदेश और चंगाई के कार्यों के कारण उनका नाम पूरे प्रदेश में फैल गया। जब हेरोद ने उनके विषय में सुना तो वह अत्यन्त उलझन में पड़ गया। कुछ लोग कहते थे कि एलिय्याह फिर से आ गया है, कुछ कहते थे कि कोई प्राचीन भविष्यद्वक्ता जी उठा है, और कुछ का विचार था कि योहन बपतिस्ता मृतकों में से जीवित हो गया है।
हेरोद की उलझन इसलिए और बढ़ गई क्योंकि वह जानता था कि उसी ने योहन बपतिस्ता का सिर कटवाया था। इसलिए वह यीशु को देखने के लिए उत्सुक था, परन्तु उसकी उत्सुकता सच्चे विश्वास से नहीं, बल्कि भ्रम और जिज्ञासा से उत्पन्न हुई थी।
आज का वचन हमें यह सोचने के लिए आमंत्रित करता है कि हमारे लिए यीशु कौन हैं। क्या हम भी केवल जिज्ञासा से उन्हें जानना चाहते हैं, या विश्वास के साथ उनके पीछे चलने के लिए तैयार हैं? संसार की क्षणभंगुर वस्तुओं के पीछे भागने के बजाय हमें उस प्रभु के साथ गहरा संबंध बनाना चाहिए जो अकेले शाश्वत हैं।
“Vanity of Vanities”
Ecclesiastes 1:2-11 Luke 9:7-9
In today's first reading we hear the famous words, "Vanity of vanities, all is vanity." The Preacher reflects on human life and asks what lasting gain a person receives from all the toil under the sun. Everything in this world is passing and constantly changing; only God remains eternal and unchanging.
In the Gospel, the fame of Jesus spread throughout the region because of His teaching, preaching, and healing. When Herod heard about these miracles, he became greatly disturbed and curious. Some people believed that Elijah had returned, others said that one of the ancient prophets had risen, while still others thought that John the Baptist had come back to life.
Herod's confusion increased because he knew very well that he himself had ordered the beheading of John the Baptist. Therefore, he was eager to see Jesus. Yet his desire arose more from curiosity and inner confusion than from genuine faith.
Today's readings invite us to examine our own understanding of Jesus. Do we seek Him merely out of curiosity, or do we truly believe in Him and desire a personal relationship with Him? Instead of chasing the passing things of this world, we are called to seek the One who alone is eternal and gives lasting meaning to our lives.
