“हम स्वतंत्र संतान बने”
गलातियों 4:22-24, 26-27, 31–5:1 लूका 11:29-32
आज हम अपने आप से एक प्रश्न पूछें—क्या हम बंदी रहना चाहते हैं या स्वतंत्र होना चाहते हैं? हममें से कोई भी बंदी रहना नहीं चाहेगा, क्योंकि दासता दुःख, घुटन और पीड़ा देती है। फिर भी कई बार हम स्वयं ही पाप और बुराई के दलदल में फँसे रहते हैं। हम जानते हैं कि यह हमें परमेश्वर से दूर ले जा रहा है, फिर भी स्वतंत्रता के स्थान पर दासता को चुन लेते हैं।
पहले पाठ में संत पौलुस गलातियों को बताते हैं कि “दासी और उसके पुत्र को निकाल दो” और स्वतंत्र माता की संतान बनो। दासी का पुत्र मानवीय स्वभाव के अनुसार उत्पन्न हुआ, जबकि स्वतंत्र माता का पुत्र परमेश्वर की प्रतिज्ञा के अनुसार। हम सब उसी स्वतंत्र माता की संतान हैं। हमें पाप और बुराई की दासता के लिए नहीं, बल्कि मसीह में स्वतंत्र जीवन जीने के लिए बुलाया गया है।
आज के सुसमाचार में भी प्रभु यीशु लोगों की उस मानसिकता को उजागर करते हैं जो विश्वास के स्थान पर चिन्ह और चमत्कार माँगती है। चिन्हों की खोज कई बार विश्वास की कमी को प्रकट करती है। प्रभु कहते हैं कि इस पीढ़ी को नबी योना के चिन्ह के अतिरिक्त कोई चिन्ह नहीं मिलेगा। जैसे नीनवे के लोगों ने पश्चाताप किया, वैसे ही हमें भी सच्चे मन से पश्चाताप करके परमेश्वर की ओर लौटना होगा।
हम परमेश्वर की संतान हैं—स्वतंत्र माता की संतान, दासी की नहीं। इसलिए अपने हृदय में पाप, बुराई और दासता को स्थान न दें। आइए, प्रतिज्ञा की संतान बनकर विश्वास में बढ़ें और उस स्वतंत्रता में जीवन बिताएँ जो मसीह ने हमें प्रदान की है।

Today, let us ask ourselves an important question: Do we want to remain slaves, or do we want to be free? No one desires to live in slavery because it brings pain, sorrow, and suffocation. Yet many of us continue to remain trapped in the slavery of sin, even when we know that God has called us to freedom.
In the first reading, Saint Paul urges the Galatians to "cast out the slave woman and her son" and become children of the free woman. The son of the slave woman was born according to the flesh, but the son of the free woman was born through God's promise. We are called to live as children of freedom, not as slaves to sin and evil.
In today's Gospel, Jesus challenges those who constantly demand signs and miracles instead of believing with faith. Seeking signs often reveals a lack of trust in God. Jesus declares that no sign will be given except the sign of Jonah. Just as the people of Nineveh repented, we too must turn away from sin if we wish to experience true freedom.
We are God's sons and daughters—the children of the free woman, not of the slave. Therefore, let us not allow sin or evil to dominate our hearts. Instead, let us grow in faith, live according to God's promise, and remain in the freedom that Christ has won for us.
