मेरे प्यारे भाइयों और बहनों, आज का पहला पाठ हमें राजा बेलशस्सर की कहानी सुनाता है जिसने प्रभु के पवित्र पात्रों का अपमान किया और अहंकार में मूर्तियों की स्तुति की। उसी समय दीवार पर लिखा गया रहस्यमय वचन उसके पतन की घोषणा करता है। यह हमें याद दिलाता है कि घमंड और प्रभु की अवज्ञा कभी स्थायी सुख नहीं दे सकती। धन, पद और शक्ति क्षणिक हैं, पर प्रभु ही शाश्वत हैं। जब हम नम्रता, श्रद्धा और विश्वास के साथ प्रभु की ओर लौटते हैं तभी हमारा जीवन सार्थक होता है।

सुसमाचार में येसु अपने शिष्यों को बताते हैं कि विश्वास के कारण उन्हें सताया जाएगा, अदालतों और कठिनाइयों का सामना करना पड़ेगा। फिर भी वे डरने के लिए नहीं बल्कि साहस के लिए बुलाए जाते हैं, क्योंकि प्रभु स्वयं उन्हें ज्ञान और शक्ति देंगे। यह सन्देश हमें भी प्रोत्साहित करता है कि जब हम संघर्ष, बीमारी या असफलता देखें, तब भी धैर्य और विश्वास में टिके रहें। प्रभु का वादा है कि “तुम्हारे सिर का बाल- बाल गिना हुआ है। फिर भी तुम्हारे सिर का एक बाल भी बांका नहीं होगा।” अतः जो अंत तक विश्वासयोग्य बने रहते हैं वही अनन्त जीवन का प्रतिफल पाते हैं।

My dear brothers and sisters, the first reading tells us about King Belshazzar who dishonored the holy vessels and glorified idols in his pride. Immediately the mysterious writing on the wall announced his downfall. This reminds us that arrogance and disobedience to God cannot give lasting happiness. Human power, wealth, and glory are temporary, but God alone is eternal. Our lives find meaning only when we remain humble, faithful, and reverent before Him. From this reading we learn that God’s judgment is just and certain, and we are invited to shape our lives according to His will.

In the Gospel, Jesus prepares His disciples for trials, saying that they will be persecuted, handed over to courts, and betrayed because of their faith. Yet they are not called to fear but to be strong, for the Lord Himself will give them wisdom and courage. This message strengthens us too in our struggles, sickness, or failures. We are assured that “not a hair of your head will perish.” Therefore, those who remain steadfast till the end will receive the reward of eternal life. Today we are invited to renew our trust in Christ, to remain patient in difficulties, and to glorify God by living as His witnesses in every situation.
