“संत चार्ल्स बोरोमियो : त्याग और सेवा का उदाहरण”

ख्रीस्त में प्यारे भाइयों एवं बहनों, आज माता कलीसिया संत चार्ल्स बोरोमियो का पर्व मना रही है। संत बोरोमियो का जन्म 20 अक्टूबर 1538 को इटली के आरोना नगर के एक कुलीन परिवार में हुआ। वे बचपन से ही धार्मिक और अध्ययनशील थे। कम आयु में ही उन्हें कार्डिनल बनाया गया और बाद में मिलान के महाधर्माध्यक्ष पद पर नियुक्त किया गया।
वे ट्रेंट महासभा के प्रमुख कार्यकर्ताओं में से एक थे और कलीसिया में सुधार लाने के लिए उन्होंने महत्वपूर्ण योगदान दिया। उन्होंने पुरोहितों की बेहतर शिक्षा के लिए कई सेमिनरी स्थापित की और अनुशासन पर विशेष बल दिया।
प्लेग महामारी के समय, जब अनेक लोग शहर छोड़कर चले गए, तब संत चार्ल्स अपने लोगों के साथ बने रहे। उन्होंने बीमारों की सेवा की, गरीबों को भोजन और सहायता प्रदान की तथा अपनी संपत्ति जरूरतमंदों में बाँट दी। उनका जीवन प्रार्थना, तपस्या और सेवा से भरा हुआ था। 4 नवंबर 1584 को उनका निधन हुआ।
आज के सुसमाचार के माध्यम से प्रभु हमें याद दिलाते हैं कि मसीह का अनुसरण करने के लिए पूर्ण रूप से त्याग करना आवश्यक है। क्योंकि प्रभु कहते हैं कि जो सब कुछ छोड़ने के लिए तैयार नहीं होता, वह मेरा शिष्य नहीं हो सकता। संत चार्ल्स बोरोमियो ने इस वचन को अपने जीवन में जीकर दिखाया।
“St. Charles Borromeo: Model of Sacrifice and Service”

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, Today Mother Church celebrates the feast of St. Charles Borromeo. Saint Charles was born on October 20, 1538, in Arona, Italy, into a noble family. From his childhood he was religious and devoted to his studies. At a young age, he was made a Cardinal, and later he was appointed Archbishop of Milan.
He was one of the leading figures of the Council of Trent and made an important contribution to reforming the Church. He established many seminaries for the better education of priests and emphasized discipline.
During the time of the plague, when many people fled the city, Saint Charles remained with his people. He served the sick, provided food and help to the poor, and distributed his own wealth among the needy. His life was filled with prayer, penance, and service. He died on November 4, 1584.
Through today’s Gospel from the Gospel of Luke, the Lord reminds us that to follow Christ, we must be ready for total sacrifice. The Lord says that anyone who is not ready to give up everything cannot be His disciple. Saint Charles Borromeo lived this Word in his life.
Despite his high position, wealth, and honor, he served people without caring for his own life. His life teaches us that a true disciple is one who gives first place to Christ and chooses the path of sacrifice, service, and love.
