“A Heart Open to Christ”

As we draw closer to Holy Week, today's readings invite us to reflect on the depth of our faith in Jesus Christ. Jesus continues to call us to believe in Him because He desires to save us from sin, darkness, and the evils of the world.

If we choose to trust and follow Jesus, we lose nothing except our sins and worldly attachments. In return, we gain everything, including the promise of eternal life. The things of this world are temporary and passing away. Life itself is fragile, and we do not have complete control over it.

The readings also reveal how easily human hearts can become hardened. Stones are often symbols of hardness, indifference, and even violence. In the Gospel, people once picked up stones to punish a sinful woman, but Jesus responded with mercy and compassion, saying, “Let the one without sin cast the first stone.”

Yet later, the same stones were lifted against Jesus Himself. Despite His miracles, love, and truth, many refused to believe in Him. Their hearts had become hardened. The prophet Jeremiah experienced similar rejection when people plotted against him because they did not want to accept God's message.

These readings challenge us to examine our own hearts. Have our hearts become resistant to God's voice? Are we indifferent to the suffering of others? Are we unwilling to change and grow spiritually?

God has given us hearts capable of love, compassion, understanding, and forgiveness. As we prepare for Holy Week, let us allow Jesus to soften our hearts and transform our lives.

May we remain faithful to Christ, open to His grace, and ready to reflect His mercy to others. For in following Him, we lose only sin and gain the gift of eternal life.

“मसीह के लिए खुला हृदय”

जैसे-जैसे हम पवित्र सप्ताह के निकट आते हैं, आज के पाठ हमें येसु मसीह में अपने विश्वास की गहराई पर विचार करने के लिए आमंत्रित करते हैं। येसु हमें बार-बार उन पर विश्वास करने के लिए बुलाते हैं क्योंकि वे हमें पाप, अंधकार और संसार की बुराइयों से बचाना चाहते हैं।

यदि हम येसु पर विश्वास करने और उनका अनुसरण करने का चुनाव करते हैं, तो हम अपने पापों और सांसारिक आसक्तियों के अलावा कुछ नहीं खोते। इसके बदले में हमें सब कुछ प्राप्त होता है, जिसमें अनन्त जीवन का वचन भी शामिल है। संसार की वस्तुएँ क्षणभंगुर और नश्वर हैं। जीवन स्वयं बहुत नाजुक है और हम उस पर पूर्ण नियंत्रण नहीं रखते।

आज के पाठ यह भी दिखाते हैं कि मानव हृदय कितनी आसानी से कठोर हो सकता है। पत्थर अक्सर कठोरता, उदासीनता और हिंसा के प्रतीक होते हैं। सुसमाचार में लोग एक पापिनी स्त्री को दण्ड देने के लिए पत्थर उठाते हैं, लेकिन येसु दया और करुणा के साथ कहते हैं, “तुम में जो निष्पाप हो, वही पहला पत्थर मारे।”

लेकिन बाद में वही पत्थर स्वयं येसु के विरुद्ध उठाए जाते हैं। उनके प्रेम, चमत्कारों और सत्य के बावजूद बहुतों ने उन पर विश्वास नहीं किया। उनके हृदय कठोर हो चुके थे। नबी यिर्मयाह ने भी इसी प्रकार की अस्वीकृति का अनुभव किया, जब लोगों ने ईश्वर के संदेश को स्वीकार करने से इंकार कर दिया और उनके विरुद्ध षड्यंत्र रचे।

ये पाठ हमें अपने हृदय की जाँच करने के लिए चुनौती देते हैं। क्या हमारा हृदय ईश्वर की आवाज़ के प्रति कठोर हो गया है? क्या हम दूसरों के दुःख के प्रति उदासीन हैं? क्या हम आत्मिक रूप से बढ़ने और बदलने के लिए तैयार नहीं हैं?

ईश्वर ने हमें ऐसा हृदय दिया है जो प्रेम, करुणा, समझ और क्षमा से भरा हो सकता है। पवित्र सप्ताह की तैयारी में आइए हम येसु को अपने हृदय को कोमल बनाने और अपने जीवन को रूपांतरित करने दें।

हम मसीह के प्रति विश्वासयोग्य बने रहें, उनकी कृपा के लिए खुले रहें, और उनकी दया को दूसरों तक पहुँचाने के लिए तत्पर रहें। क्योंकि उनका अनुसरण करके हम केवल पाप को खोते हैं और अनन्त जीवन का उपहार प्राप्त करते हैं।
