“विनम्र सेवा: एक नेता की विशेषता”

ख्रीस्त में प्रिय विश्वासियो!

इस दुनिया में हमारे बीच विभिन्न प्रकार के नेता होते हैं—कुछ राजनीतिक, कुछ धार्मिक, कुछ आध्यात्मिक, और कुछ श्रमिक नेताओं के रूप में हमारे बीच कार्यरत हैं। हमारा जीवन किसी न किसी रूप में इन नेताओं से जुड़ा रहता है, और वे हमें प्रभावित भी करते हैं। दुनिया की दृष्टि में नेतृत्व का अर्थ है—सत्ता, पद, अधिकार और नियंत्रण प्राप्त करना। कई बार कोई नेता सत्ता और पद बनाए रखने के लिए किसी भी सीमा तक जा सकता है। यह प्रवृत्ति समाज और संसार में अराजकता और अशांति का कारण बनती है।

किन्तु आज प्रभु येसु हमें नेतृत्व का एक नया मॉडल सिखाते हैं—विनम्र सेवा से जन्म लेने वाला और सेवा के द्वारा राज करने वाला नेतृत्व। येसु कहते हैं: “तुम जानते हो कि संसार के अधिपति अपनी प्रजा पर निरंकुश शासन करते हैं और सत्ताधारी लोगों पर अधिकार जताते हैं। तुम में ऐसी बात नहीं होगी। जो तुम लोगों में बड़ा होना चाहता है, वह तुम्हारा सेवक बने और जो तुम में प्रधान होना चाहता है, वह तुम्हारा दास बने।” (मत्ती 20:25-27)

येसु यहाँ यह स्पष्ट करते हैं कि सच्चा नेतृत्व सेवा में है, न कि अधिकार में। वे संसार की उस सोच को पलट देते हैं जो साधारण और विनम्र जनों को महत्व नहीं देती। येसु हमें विनम्रता, सादगी और सेवा का स्वाद लेने के लिए आमंत्रित करते हैं। हमारी मानवता और महानता हमारे सेवाभाव में प्रकट होनी चाहिए। स्वयं येसु ने अपने बारे में कहा: “मानव पुत्र भी अपनी सेवा कराने नहीं, बल्कि सेवा करने तथा बहुतों के उद्धार के लिए अपने प्राण देने आया है।” (मत्ती 20:28) और उन्होंने यह केवल शब्दों से नहीं, बल्कि अपने जीवन समर्पण के कार्य से सिद्ध करके दिखाया।

तो अब हमारा उत्तरदायित्व क्या है? चाहे हम किसी समूह के घोषित नेता हों या साधारण सदस्य, आइए हम एक-दूसरे को उनके अंतर को स्वीकार करते हुए नम्रता से अपनाएँ। हमारी विनम्र सेवा के कार्य हमारे ख्रीस्तीय पहचान की स्पष्ट गवाही बनें। ईश्वर हम सभी को आशीर्वाद दें।

“HUMBLE SERVICE: THE QUALITY OF A LEADER”

My dear friends in Christ!

We have many leaders in the world. Some are political leaders, some are religious leaders, some are spiritual leaders, some are labourers’ leaders and so on. Our lives are in one or the other way connected to either form of the leaders and their influence. In the mind of the world, leadership is all about having power, position, authority and control. A leader could go to any extent in order to keep power and position stable. This leads to chaos and unrest in society and the world at large.

Today our Lord teaches a new model of leadership that emerges from humble service and reigns through serving alone. For Jesus says, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones are tyrants over them. It shall not be so among you; but whoever wishes to be great among you must be your servant, and whoever wishes to be first among you must be your slave.” (Mt. 20:26-27)

By asking the great to be servants and the first to be slaves, Jesus overturns the fixed structure of our world which ignores the significance of the simple ones. Jesus gives us an open invitation to savour the taste of humility, simplicity and service. Our humanity and greatness must be exhibited in our humble service. Jesus himself identifies with a servant: “the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve.” (Mt. 20:28) He did this not only by his words but proved it through his act of self-giving.

So, what are we to do? Whether we are publicly declared leaders or simple ordinary members of a group, let us have the humility to accept one another despite the differences. Let our actions of humble service to others speak loudly of our Christian identity. May God bless us all.
