“Jesus Calms the Storm”
In today’s Gospel, we see the disciples facing a violent storm while Jesus was with them in the boat. This scene teaches us an important truth: even when Jesus is present with us, we may still face struggles, challenges, and storms in life. Challenges are inevitable, whether Jesus seems present or silent.
The Gospel also reveals the divine power of Jesus. In the Old Testament, only God had power over the wind, sea, and storms. By calming the wind and the sea with a word, Jesus clearly shows His divine authority over all creation.
Another powerful lesson is the need to call upon Jesus. Even though Jesus was physically present, the disciples had to cry out to Him in their fear. As soon as they called His name, Jesus woke up and brought peace to the storm.
In our own lives, even when Jesus knows our struggles, it is important that we actively call upon His name — especially in times of trouble and difficulty. Calling out to Jesus opens the door to experience His protection, peace, and saving power.
May we learn to trust Jesus in the midst of every storm and always have the courage to call upon His name.
