“ईश्वर और धन – दो स्वामी”
ख्रीस्त में मेरे प्यारे भाइयों और बहनों,
आज के पवित्र पाठ हमें विश्वास में स्थिर रहने और अपने जीवन का केन्द्र ईश्वर को बनाने की याद दिलाते हैं।
पहले पाठ में हम राजा योआश के जीवन की एक दुखद घटना देखते हैं। जब तक याजक यहोयादा जीवित था, तब तक योआश प्रभु के मार्ग पर चलता रहा। परन्तु उसके निधन के बाद उसने बुरे परामर्श को स्वीकार किया और लोग फिर से मूर्तिपूजा में गिर पड़े। जब नबियों ने उन्हें प्रभु की ओर लौटने के लिए चेतावनी दी, तब उन्होंने उस वाणी को सुनने से इनकार कर दिया। यहाँ तक कि ज़कर्या, जो उसी याजक का पुत्र था जिसने राजा का मार्गदर्शन किया था, उसे भी मन्दिर के प्रांगण में पत्थरों से मार डाला गया।
इस घटना से हम देखते हैं कि जब मनुष्य ईश्वर को छोड़ देता है, तो उसका निर्णय और उसका जीवन दोनों भटक जाते हैं।
आज के सुसमाचार में प्रभु येसु हमें एक स्पष्ट और गहरी शिक्षा देते हैं – “कोई भी दो स्वामियों की सेवा नहीं कर सकता।” मनुष्य एक साथ ईश्वर और धन दोनों को अपना स्वामी नहीं बना सकता। यदि हमारा हृदय केवल धन, सुरक्षा और सांसारिक चिन्ताओं में उलझा रहेगा, तो हम ईश्वर पर भरोसा करना भूल सकते हैं।
इसीलिए येसु हमें आकाश के पक्षियों और खेत के फूलों की ओर देखने के लिए कहते हैं। वे हमें याद दिलाते हैं कि स्वर्गिक पिता अपनी सृष्टि की देखभाल करता है। यदि वह छोटी-छोटी चीज़ों का ध्यान रखता है, तो वह अपने बच्चों को कैसे भूल सकता है? इसलिए येसु हमें आमंत्रित करते हैं कि हम सबसे पहले ईश्वर के राज्य और उसकी धार्मिकता की खोज करें।
हमारे जीवन में भी अनेक चिन्ताएँ, योजनाएँ और असुरक्षाएँ होती हैं। परन्तु सच्चा विश्वास हमें सिखाता है कि हम अपने जीवन को प्रभु के हाथों में सौंप दें और उस पर भरोसा रखें। आइए हम प्रभु से यह अनुग्रह माँगें कि हमारा हृदय विभाजित न हो, बल्कि पूरी निष्ठा से ईश्वर की ओर उन्मुख रहे, ताकि हम सच्चे विश्वास और भरोसे के साथ जीवन जी सकें। आमेन।
“You Cannot Serve Two Masters”
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
Today’s readings invite us to remain faithful to God and to place Him at the center of our lives.
In the first reading we hear about King Joash. As long as the priest Jehoiada was alive, Joash followed the ways of the Lord. But after his death, he listened to bad counsel and the people turned again to idolatry. When God sent prophets to call them back, they refused to listen. Even Zechariah, the son of the priest who had once guided the king, was stoned to death in the temple courtyard. This tragic event shows how easily a person can lose direction when he turns away from God.
In the Gospel, Jesus gives a very clear teaching: “No one can serve two masters.” A person cannot serve both God and wealth. If our hearts become too attached to material security and worldly concerns, we may slowly lose our trust in God.
That is why Jesus points to the birds of the air and the lilies of the field. They remind us that the heavenly Father cares for all His creation. If He provides for them, how much more will He care for His children? Therefore, Jesus invites us to seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness.
Our lives are often filled with worries about the future, security, and daily needs. Yet faith calls us to place our trust in God and entrust our lives to His providence. May the Lord grant us the grace to keep our hearts undivided, so that we may always seek Him first and live with true trust in His loving care. Amen.
