“नम्रता और सच्ची भक्ति”
ख्रीस्त में मेरे प्रिय भाइयों और बहनों,
हमारे जीवन में अक्सर ऐसा होता है कि जब हम कोई अच्छा काम करते हैं जैसे दान देना, प्रार्थना करना या उपवास करना तो कभी-कभी हमारे मन में यह इच्छा आ जाती है कि लोग हमें देखें और हमारी प्रशंसा करें। परन्तु आज का पवित्र सुसमाचार हमें याद दिलाता है कि सच्ची भक्ति दिखावे में नहीं बल्कि नम्रता और गुप्त भक्ति में होती है।
सुसमाचार में प्रभु येसु अपने शिष्यों से कहते हैं कि जब तुम दान दो, प्रार्थना करो या उपवास करो, तो लोगों को दिखाने के लिए ऐसा मत करो। जो लोग केवल लोगों की प्रशंसा पाने के लिए धर्मकार्य करते हैं, वे अपना पुरस्कार यहीं पा लेते हैं। परन्तु जो व्यक्ति नम्रता और सच्चे मन से ईश्वर के लिए कार्य करता है, उसे स्वर्गिक पिता स्वयं प्रतिफल देते हैं।
आज का पहला पाठ हमें नबी एलियाह और एलीशा की घटना सुनाता है। जब एलियाह स्वर्ग में आरोहित होने वाले थे, तब एलीशा ने उनसे उनकी आत्मिक शक्ति का दोहरा भाग माँगा। इसका अर्थ यह है कि एलीशा केवल बाहरी प्रतिष्ठा नहीं, बल्कि ईश्वर की आत्मिक शक्ति और बुलाहट को प्राप्त करना चाहता था। बाद में हम देखते हैं कि उसी विश्वास के साथ वह एलियाह की चादर से यर्दन के जल को विभाजित करता है। यह दर्शाता है कि ईश्वर की शक्ति उन लोगों में कार्य करती है जो विश्वास और नम्रता से उसकी सेवा करते हैं।
मेरे प्रिय भाइयों और बहनों, आज के दोनों पाठ हमें एक महत्वपूर्ण शिक्षा देते हैं — सच्ची महानता और सच्ची भक्ति भीतर से आती है। जब हमारा विश्वास सच्चा और नम्र होता है, तब हमारे दान, प्रार्थना और उपवास केवल बाहरी कार्य नहीं रहते, बल्कि ईश्वर के साथ हमारे संबंध को गहरा करते हैं।
आज हम अपने आप से यह प्रश्न करें: क्या हम अपने धर्मकार्य लोगों को दिखाने के लिए करते हैं या सच में ईश्वर के लिए? क्या हमारी प्रार्थना और भक्ति सच्चे मन से होती है? आइए हम प्रभु से प्रार्थना करें कि वह हमें एक नम्र और सच्चा हृदय प्रदान करें, ताकि हमारे सभी धर्मकार्य केवल ईश्वर की महिमा के लिए हों और हमारे जीवन के द्वारा उसका प्रेम संसार में प्रकट हो सके। आमेन।
“Humility and True Devotion”
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
In our lives, when we do good works—such as giving alms, praying, or fasting—sometimes we may feel the desire for others to see us and appreciate us. However, today’s Gospel reminds us that true devotion is not about outward display but about humility and sincerity before God.
In the Gospel, Jesus teaches His disciples that when they give alms, pray, or fast, they should not do it to be seen by others. Those who perform religious acts only to receive human praise have already received their reward. But those who do these things quietly and sincerely for God will receive their reward from the heavenly Father.
In the first reading we hear about Elijah and Elisha. When Elijah was about to be taken up into heaven, Elisha asked for a double share of Elijah’s spirit. This shows that Elisha desired not earthly honor but spiritual strength and God’s grace. Later we see that with faith he struck the waters of the Jordan with Elijah’s cloak, and the waters parted. This reminds us that God’s power works through those who serve Him with faith and humility.
My dear brothers and sisters, today’s readings teach us that true greatness and true devotion come from the heart. When our faith is sincere, our acts of charity, prayer, and fasting become a way to grow closer to God.
Today let us ask ourselves: Do we practice our faith to be seen by others, or truly for God? Is our prayer sincere and humble? Let us pray that the Lord may give us a humble and pure heart, so that all our good works may be done for His glory and that through our lives His love may be revealed to the world. Amen.
