“शत्रुओं से भी प्रेम करो”
ख्रीस्त में मेरे प्रिय भाइयों और बहनों,
मानव जीवन में यह बहुत स्वाभाविक है कि हम उन लोगों से प्रेम करें जो हमसे प्रेम करते हैं। लेकिन जब कोई हमें दुःख देता है या हमारे साथ अन्याय करता है, तब उसके प्रति प्रेम रखना हमारे लिए बहुत कठिन हो जाता है। आज के पवित्र पाठ हमें इसी कठिन लेकिन महान मार्ग की ओर बुलाते हैं।
पहले पाठ में हम राजा अहाब के जीवन की एक घटना देखते हैं। उसने लालच और स्वार्थ के कारण ऐसे कार्य किए जो प्रभु की दृष्टि में बुरे थे। नबी एलियाह उसके सामने ईश्वर का संदेश लाते हैं और उसे उसके पाप का बोध कराते हैं। यह घटना हमें याद दिलाती है कि मनुष्य चाहे कितना ही शक्तिशाली क्यों न हो, वह ईश्वर के न्याय से छिप नहीं सकता। फिर भी जब अहाब ने अपने को दीन किया और पश्चाताप किया, तो प्रभु ने उसकी विनम्रता को देखा। इससे हमें यह शिक्षा मिलती है कि सच्चा पश्चाताप मनुष्य को ईश्वर की दया के निकट ले आता है।
सुसमाचार में प्रभु येसु हमें प्रेम की एक और ऊँची शिक्षा देते हैं। वे कहते हैं कि केवल अपने मित्रों से ही नहीं, बल्कि अपने शत्रुओं से भी प्रेम करो और जो तुम्हें कष्ट देते हैं उनके लिए प्रार्थना करो। यह शिक्षा हमें बताती है कि ख्रीस्तीय जीवन केवल भावनाओं का नहीं, बल्कि एक गहरे निर्णय का मार्ग है—एक ऐसा निर्णय जिसमें हम घृणा के स्थान पर प्रेम को चुनते हैं।
जब हम अपने शत्रुओं के लिए प्रार्थना करते हैं, तब हमारे हृदय में भी परिवर्तन होता है। धीरे-धीरे हमारे भीतर की कठोरता कम होती है और हम ईश्वर की करुणा को अपने जीवन में अनुभव करने लगते हैं। यही वह प्रेम है जो संसार में शांति और मेल-मिलाप का मार्ग खोल सकता है।
इसलिए आज का वचन हमें आमंत्रित करता है कि हम अपने जीवन में उस प्रेम को स्थान दें जो प्रभु येसु ने सिखाया। जब हम कठिन परिस्थितियों में भी क्षमा और प्रेम का मार्ग चुनते हैं, तब हम वास्तव में अपने स्वर्गिक पिता के समान बनने की दिशा में आगे बढ़ते हैं। आमेन।
“Love Your Enemies”
My dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
it is easy for us to love those who love us. However, loving those who hurt or oppose us is much more difficult. Today’s readings invite us to reflect on this deeper call of Christian life.
In the first reading we see the story of King Ahab. Because of his selfish desire, he committed injustice. Through the prophet Elijah, God confronts him with the truth of his actions. This reminds us that no human power can hide wrongdoing from God. Yet when Ahab humbles himself and repents, God notices his humility. This shows that sincere repentance always opens the door to God’s mercy.
In the Gospel, Jesus calls His disciples to a higher standard of love. He asks them not only to love their neighbours but also their enemies and to pray for those who persecute them. This teaching challenges our natural reactions and invites us to grow in the love that reflects God’s own heart.
When we pray for those who oppose us, something within us begins to change. Bitterness slowly gives way to mercy, and we start sharing in the compassion of our heavenly Father. In this way, Christian love becomes a witness that can bring reconciliation and peace even in difficult situations. Amen.
