प्रिय भाइयों और बहनों, आज का पाठ हमें दो बहुत ही महत्वपूर्ण बातों पर विचार करने को आमंत्रित करता है: आत्मिक जीवन में विश्वास और साहस को प्रज्वलित रखना और पवित्र आत्मा का आदर करना और उसकी निंदा न करना।

पौलुस, जो जेल में रहकर अपने प्रिय शिष्य तिमथी को लिखते हैं, कहते हैं: “तुम ईश्वरीय वरदान की वह ज्वाला को प्रज्वलित बनाए रखो जो मेरे हाथों के आरोपण द्वारा तुम में विद्यमान है। ईश्वर ने हमें भीरूता का नहीं बल्कि सामर्थ्य, प्रेम तथा आत्मसंयम का मनोभाव प्रदान किया।” यह हमें याद दिलाता है कि हमारे भीतर जो विश्वास है, वह एक जलती हुई आग की तरह है और यदि हम उसकी देखभाल न करें, तो वह बुझ सकती है।

सुसमाचार मे हम देखते है कि येसु पर जब आरोप लगाया गया कि वे शैतान की शक्ति से भूत निकालते हैं, तो उन्होंने सख्त उत्तर दिया: “परन्तु पवित्र आत्मा की निंदा करने वाले को कभी भी क्षमा नही मिलेगी।” पवित्र आत्मा हमारे हृदय में काम करता है; वह हमें समझ, पश्चाताप, और साहस देता है। अगर हम जानबूझकर उसकी आवाज़ को अनदेखा करते हैं, तो हम खुद को उद्धार से दूर कर लेते हैं।

आज, प्रभु हमें बुला रहे हैं कि हम डर के आत्मा को त्यागें, और विश्वास के आत्मा को अपनाएँ, जो हमें नयी शक्ति और नया जीवन देता है।

Dear brothers and sisters, today’s readings invite us to reflect on two very important aspects of our spiritual life: to keep our faith and courage alive, and to honour the Holy Spirit, never blaspheming against Him.

Paul, writing from prison to his beloved disciple Timothy, says: “For this reason I remind you to rekindle the gift of God that is within you through the laying on of my hands; for God did not give us a spirit of cowardice, but rather a spirit of power and of love and of self-discipline.” This reminds us that the faith within us is like a burning fire and if we neglect it, it can fade away.

In the Gospel, we see how some accused Jesus of casting out demons by the power of Satan. Jesus gave them a stern reply: “Whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven.” This is a serious warning: to deny the work of the Holy Spirit or to call it evil is a grave insult to God's glory. The Holy Spirit guides us, strengthens us, and keeps our spiritual life alive.

Today, the Lord calls us to cast out the spirit of fear and embrace the Spirit of faith, who gives us new strength and new life.
