प्रिय भाइयों और बहनों, आज हम तीन प्रेरणादायक उदाहरण देखते हैं—दाऊद, प्रभु येसु, और संत अग्नेस—जिन्होंने विरोध और खतरे के बीच भी साहस और विश्वास को नहीं छोड़ा।

1 समूएल में, एक युवा दाऊद विशाल गोलियत के विरुद्ध खड़ा होता है। राजा साऊल को उस पर संदेह होता है, लेकिन दाऊद निर्भयता से कहता है, “प्रभु ने मुझे सिंह और भालू के पंजे से बचा लिया। वह मुझे उस फिलिस्ती के हाथ से भी बचाएगा।” वह तलवार या कवच पर नहीं, बल्कि ईश्वर की सामर्थ्य पर भरोसा करता है।

इसी तरह, सुसमाचार में, प्रभु येसु विश्राम दिन पर एक सूखे हाथ वाले व्यक्ति को चंगा करते हैं। उन्हें मालूम था कि फरीसी उनकी निंदा करेंगे, फिर भी उन्होंने करुणा और सच्चाई को चुना।

आज हम संत अग्नेस को भी स्मरण करते हैं—एक मात्र 12 या 13 वर्ष की रोमन कन्या जिसने अपने विश्वास और पवित्रता को नहीं छोड़ा, भले ही उसे मृत्यु का सामना करना पड़ा। उसका साहस चिल्लाने या लड़ने में नहीं था, बल्कि अपने विश्वास में स्थिर रहने में था।

इन तीनों उदाहरणों से हमें देखते हैं कि जब हमारा साहस और विश्वास ईश्वर में आधारित होता है, तब वह हमारे लिए युद्ध करता है। जब हम सच्चाई और भलाई को चुनते हैं, तो ईश्वर हमारे साथ खड़ा होता है। क्या आज हम भी ऐसे साहसी और विश्वास योग्य बन सकते हैं जो ईश्वर की इच्छा को हर परिस्थिति में प्राथमिकता दें? आइए, हम प्रार्थना करें कि हम दाऊद, प्रभु येसु, और संत अग्नेस की तरह निडर, नम्र, और विश्वास में स्थिर बनें।

Dear Brothers and Sisters, we see a young David boldly volunteering to fight the mighty Goliath. Though Saul doubts him, David’s courage flows from his unwavering faith in God. He doesn’t rely on physical strength or weapons but trusts in the Lord.

Similarly, Jesus heals a man with a withered hand in the synagogue, despite knowing that the Pharisees are watching Him, seeking a reason to accuse Him. Jesus stands firm, prioritizing compassion and righteousness over fear of conflict. His courage to do good, even when it invites persecution, mirrors David’s fearless stand against Goliath.

Both stories highlight a profound truth: when we act with courage rooted in faith, God fights our battles.

Today, the Church also remembers St. Agnes, a young Roman girl who was martyred around the age of 12 or 13. In a society that pressured her to renounce her faith and purity, she stood firm, declaring that she belonged only to Christ.

St. Agnes reminds us that true courage is not loud or forceful—faithful, quiet, and enduring. Like her, may we stand firm in our faith, choosing to do what is right, even when it is difficult.
