“शत्रुओं के प्रति प्रेम ही पूर्णता का चिन्ह है”

“तुम पूर्ण बनो, जैसे तुम्हारा स्वर्गिक पिता पूर्ण है” (मत्ती 5:48) - यह प्रभु की आज्ञा है। सिद्धता या पूर्णता वह अवस्था है जिसमें किसी भी प्रकार की कोई कमी नहीं होती। प्रभु हर बात में पूर्ण हैं। वे संपूर्ण और सिद्ध हैं — उन्हें किसी वृद्धि या सुधार की आवश्यकता नहीं।

वे करुणामय और प्रेममय ईश्वर हैं। वे एक ऐसे अनोखे ईश्वर हैं जो धर्मियों और पापियों — दोनों से समान रूप से प्रेम करते हैं; जो निन्यानवे को छोड़कर खोए हुए एक को ढूँढ़ने निकलते हैं, जो भटके हुए की वापसी के लिए प्रेम की ज्वाला में निरंतर प्रतीक्षा करते हैं, और जो क्रूस पर अपने शत्रुओं को भी क्षमा कर देते हैं। वे ऐसा इसलिए करते हैं क्योंकि वे हमारी कमजोरी को जानते हैं और स्वयं को हमारे साथ एकाकार करते हैं। यदि हमारे जीवन के सर्जक और सिद्ध ईश्वर हमारी भूलों को समझते हैं, निर्विरोध प्रेम करते हैं और हमें क्षमा करने के लिए सदैव तैयार रहते हैं, तो क्या हमें अपने पड़ोसियों से प्रेम करने और उन्हें क्षमा करने के लिए और अधिक तैयार नहीं होना चाहिए?

अब यह प्रश्न उठता है — “हम किस प्रकार पूर्ण बन सकते हैं?” हमारा ईश्वर हमारे कार्यों, कौशल, भाषण या प्रतिभाओं में सिद्धता नहीं चाहता, बल्कि वह चाहता है कि हम प्रेम में सिद्ध बनें अर्थात भटके हुओं को अपनाने में, घायलों को चंगा करने में, और शत्रुओं से प्रेम करने में हम पूर्ण बने रहें। जो हमसे प्रेम करते हैं, उन्हें प्रेम करना तो आसान है, जो हमसे प्रसन्न रहते हैं, उनकी चिंता करना सहज है। परन्तु प्रभु हमें एक क्रांतिकारी कदम उठाने को कहते हैं — अपने शत्रुओं से प्रेम करने और सताने वालों के लिए प्रार्थना करने का।

हम अकसर सुनते हैं कि ख्रीस्तीय मिशनरियों और विश्वासियों को समाज में विरोध और उत्पीड़न का सामना करना पड़ता है। कट्टरपंथी समूह हमारे मिशन केंद्रों, संस्थानों और विश्वासियों को घेरते हैं। कई बार हम खुद को असहाय महसूस करते हैं। लेकिन हम कभी अकेले नहीं छोड़े जाते, क्योंकि हमारी आशा प्रभु में है। हम यह सब उत्पीड़न प्रभु से प्राप्त शक्ति से चुपचाप सहते हैं, और इसलिए हम प्रेम करने, क्षमा करने और उनके लिए प्रार्थना करने का साहस भी रखते हैं। हमारे गुरु येसु ने स्वयं इस बात का उदाहरण क्रूस पर अपने सताने वालों को क्षमा करके दिया।

प्रभु का यह प्रेममय कार्य हमें प्रेरित करता है। सिर्फ तभी हम स्वर्गीय पिता के समान सिद्ध बन सकते हैं जब हम प्रभु की शिक्षाओं को अपने जीवन में उतारें। अंत में, यदि हम केवल उनसे ही प्रेम करें जो हमसे प्रेम करते हैं — तो उसमें हमारा क्या लाभ? आइए हम आत्म-चिंतन करें और उसी के अनुसार जीवन जीएँ। ईश्वर का दयालु हृदय हमें आगे बढ़ने में मार्गदर्शन करे।

“LOVE FOR ENEMIES IS A SIGN OF PERFECTION”

“Be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect” (Mt. 5:48) is the command of the Lord. Perfection is a quality of fullness in which there is no lack of any sort. The Lord is the fullness of everything. He is complete and perfect, needing no addition or improvement.

He is a compassionate and loving God. He is a unique God who loves both the righteous and sinners equally, goes in search of the lost one leaving the ninety-nine behind, waits for the return of the strayed one with unquenchable flames of love, and forgives His enemies even in the final moments on the cross. He does this because He knows our fragile nature and identifies Himself with us personally. If the Lord, who is perfect and the author of our life, is kind enough to understand our faults, loves us unconditionally, and is always ready to forgive us, then how much more should we be loving and forgiving towards our neighbours?

Here arises a question, “In what way can we be perfect?” Our God does not seek perfection in our skills, works, speech, or talents. Rather, He wants us to be perfect in showing love, embracing the strayed, healing the wounded, and extending mercy even to our enemies. It is easy to love those who love us and care for those who are pleased with us. But the Lord calls us to take a radical step—loving our enemies and praying for those who persecute us.

These days we often hear about Christian missionaries and believers facing persecution from anti-Christian elements in society. Fundamentalist groups may surround our missionaries, mission institutions, and places of worship like howling wolves, creating fear and uncertainty. At times, we may feel abandoned and helpless. Yet we are never abandoned because our hope is in the Lord. By the strength He provides, we can endure suffering and still choose to love, forgive, and pray for those who oppose us. Our Master Jesus Himself set the perfect example by forgiving His persecutors while hanging on the cross.

The Lord’s act of love must inspire us. Only when we put His teachings into practice can we become perfect like our Heavenly Father. Finally, what profit is there if we love only those who love us? Let us reflect deeply and live accordingly. May God’s merciful heart guide us forward.
