“ईश्वर की प्रबंध व्यवस्था के अधीन”

आज के सुसमाचार में प्रभु येसु हमें ईश्वर से प्रार्थना करने के महत्व और प्रभाव को सिखाते हैं। क्योंकि वे कहते हैं: “माँगो और तुम्हें दिया जायेगा; ढूँढ़ो और तुम्हें मिल जायेगा; खटखटाओ और तुम्हारे लिए खोला जायेगा।” (मत्ती 7:7) “माँगना”, “ढूँढ़ना” और “खटखटाना” जैसे शब्द गहन आवश्यकता की भावना को प्रकट करते हैं।

हमारे व्यावहारिक अनुभव से हम जानते हैं कि कोई भी तभी किसी से कुछ माँगता है जब उसकी आवश्यकता बहुत बड़ी होती है; कोई तभी किसी वस्तु को ढूँढ़ता है जब वह वस्तु अत्यंत मूल्यवान होती है और उसे खोना वह सहन नहीं कर सकता; और किसी दूसरे के द्वार पर जाकर खटखटाने का अर्थ है कि उसके पास अपनी आवश्यकता पूरी करने का और कोई साधन नहीं है। इसके लिए बहुत साहस और इच्छा-शक्ति की आवश्यकता होती है।

येसु इन शब्दों का उपयोग करके हमें यह दिखाना चाहते हैं कि हम ईश्वर के सहारे के कितने ज़रूरतमंद हैं, और साथ ही वे हमें उसकी प्रबंध व्यवस्था (Providence) का आश्वासन भी देते हैं। परन्तु इसके लिए आवश्यक है कि हम स्वयं को ईश्वर के समीप लाने के लिए तैयार और खुले हों। मनुष्य हमारी सहायता की याचना को अस्वीकार कर सकते हैं, परन्तु ईश्वर ऐसा नहीं करता। क्योंकि येसु कहते हैं: “बुरे होने पर भी यदि तुम लोग अपने बच्चों को सहज ही अच्छी चीजें देते हो, तो तुम्हारा स्वर्गिक पिता माँगने वालों को अच्छी चीजें क्यों नहीं देगा?” (मत्ती 7:11)

एक आम विश्वासी के मन में यह प्रश्न उठ सकता है: “यदि ईश्वर सर्वज्ञ और सर्वदाता है, तो फिर हमें उससे प्रार्थना क्यों करनी चाहिए?” हमें यह समझना चाहिए कि प्रार्थना हमारे विश्वास की अभिव्यक्ति है। जब हम प्रार्थना में ईश्वर के पास जाते हैं, तो हम उसकी प्रबंध व्यवस्था को स्वीकार करते हैं और उसके सामने अपने विनम्र हृदय को प्रस्तुत करते हैं।

तो आइए, हम विश्वास के साथ साहसपूर्वक ईश्वर से प्रार्थना करें कि वह हमें जीवन की चुनौतियों का सामना करने के लिए शक्ति दे; संदेह, भ्रम और संघर्ष के समय समाधान पाने के लिए हम प्रार्थना में उसे ढूँढ़ें; और स्वर्ग के द्वार को खटखटाएँ कि वह हमें वह अनुग्रह प्रदान करे जिसकी हमें विश्वास और प्रेम में जीवन जीने के लिए आवश्यकता है।

“UNDER THE PROVIDENCE OF GOD”

In today’s Gospel Jesus teaches us the importance and effect of praying to God. For He says, “Ask, and it will be given you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you.” (Mt. 7:7) The expressions “ask,” “search,” and “knock” convey very strong feelings of need.

We know from our practical experience that anyone would dare to ask another only when one is in great need; anyone would search for something only when one is in need of something which is of great value and cannot afford to lose it. Similarly, going to the door of another and knocking also denotes that there is no other means to meet one’s needs and it requires much courage and determination.

Jesus makes use of these expressions in order to show our state of being in need of God’s hands and gives us the assurance of His providence. However, our willingness and openness to approach God is important. Our requests for help may be rejected by fellow humans, but it is not so with God. For Jesus says, “If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!” (Mt. 7:11)

There could arise a question in the heart of a common believer: “If God is all-knowing and all-providing, why should anyone pray to God?” We must understand that prayer is a demonstration of our faith in God. When we approach God in prayer, we acknowledge His providence and exhibit our humility before Him.

Let us then boldly ask God in prayer with faith to grant us the strength to face the challenges in life, search in prayer for solutions in times of doubts, confusions and conflicts, and knock at the door of heaven for the graces needed to lead our life in faith and charity.
