“पूर्वाग्रह न रखें”

आज के दोनों पाठ हमें याद दिलाते हैं कि जब हम पूर्वाग्रहों और सीमित दृष्टिकोण में जीते हैं, तो हम ईश्वर की योजना को पूरी तरह पहचान नहीं पाते।

आज के पहले पाठ में हम देखते हैं कि राजा दाऊद ने अपना भरोसा सैनिकों में रखा था। उसने ईश्वरीय शक्ति तथा उसके सामर्थ्य को ठुकरा दिया। परिणामस्वरूप उसको हार का सामना करना पड़ा। उसी प्रकार आज के सुसमाचार में हम पढ़ते हैं कि लोग येसु को अस्वीकार करते हैं। जब येसु अपने नगर नाजरेत आए, तो वहाँ के लोगों ने उन्हें स्वीकार नहीं किया। उन्होंने येसु को उनके परिवार के आधार पर देखा और उनकी ईश्वरीयता को नहीं पहचान सके। इस कारण वे ईश्वर के अनुग्रह से वंचित रह गए।

आज की दुनिया में भी यही समस्या है। हम कई बार जाति, धर्म, भाषा, लिंग, पद, शिक्षा या आर्थिक स्थिति के आधार पर लोगों को देखते हैं। इसी पूर्वाग्रह के कारण हम दूसरों की अच्छाई और ईश्वर के कार्यों को देखने से चूक जाते हैं। यदि हम ईश्वर के सच्चे साक्षी बनना चाहते हैं, तो हमें अपने मन और हृदय से पूर्वाग्रह हटाना होगा। हर व्यक्ति में ईश्वर की छवि को देखना होगा।

आइए, हम ईश्वर से प्रार्थना करें कि हम हर व्यक्ति में ईश्वर की उपस्थिति को पहचानें और खुले मन से स्वीकार करें।

“Do Not Be Prejudiced”

Today’s both readings remind us that when we live with prejudice and a narrow outlook, we fail to recognize God’s plan.

In the first reading, we see that King David placed his trust in his soldiers. He rejected God’s power and strength. As a result, he had to face defeat. Similarly, in today’s Gospel, we read that the people rejected Jesus. When Jesus came to His hometown of Nazareth, the people there did not accept Him. They looked at Him only through the lens of His family background and could not recognize His divinity. Because of this, they missed out on God’s grace.

The same problem exists in our world today. Many times, we too judge people on the basis of caste, religion, language, gender, status, education, or economic condition. Because of these prejudices, we fail to see the goodness in others and the works of God. If we want to be true witnesses of God, we must remove prejudice from our minds and hearts. We must learn to see the image of God in every person.

Let us pray that we may recognize God’s presence in every person and accept one another with an open heart.
