येसु ख्रीस्त में प्रिये भाइयो और बहनों, आज का पहला पाठ याकूब द्वारा अपने पुत्रों को दी गई आशीष का वर्णन करता है। विशेषकर यूदा को दी गई आशीष महत्वपूर्ण है। याकूब भविष्यवाणी करता है कि उसके वंश से राजा उत्पन्न होगा और "राजदण्ड यूदा से नहीं हटेगा"। यह भविष्यवाणी आगे चलकर प्रभु येसु मसीह में पूरी होती है, क्योंकि येसु दाऊद और यूदा के वंश से आते हैं। यहाँ हम देखते हैं कि ईश्वर की मुक्ति योजना पहले से ही तय थी और वह पीढ़ी दर पीढ़ी पूरी होती गई।

सुसमाचार में प्रभु येसु की वंशावली दी गई है। मत्ती यहूदियों को यह दिखाना चाहते हैं कि येसु वही प्रतिज्ञात मसीह हैं जो अब्राहम और दाऊद की संतान हैं। इस वंशावली से हमें यह पता चलता है कि ईश्वर इतिहास के माध्यम से कार्य करता है। आज के दोनों पाठ हमें यह संदेश देते हैं कि येसु केवल एक ऐतिहासिक व्यक्ति नहीं, बल्कि ईश्वर की मुक्ति योजना की परिपूर्णता हैं। उनका आना कोई संयोग नहीं था, बल्कि अब्राहम से लेकर दाऊद और दाऊद से लेकर मरियम और यूसुफ तक ईश्वर की प्रतिज्ञा का पूरा होना था।

आज जब हम वंशावली पर मनन करते हैं तो हमें यह एहसास होता है कि ईश्वर की योजना बहुत ही व्यवस्थित और गहरी है। यहूदियों के लिए उनकी पहचान और उनके वंश का महत्व था, परंतु संत लूकस के अनुसार यह वंशावली केवल यहूदियों तक सीमित नहीं, बल्कि आदम तक पहुँचती है। इसका अर्थ यह है कि यीशु केवल यहूदियों के ही नहीं बल्कि पूरी मानवजाति के मुक्तिदाता हैं। हमारी जड़ और नींव प्रभु येसु में है। हम अपने वंश या अपने मानवीय गौरव पर नहीं, बल्कि प्रभु येसु के चयन और उनके बुलावे पर भरोसा करते हैं। इसलिए हमें अपने जीवन में यह मानकर चलना चाहिए कि हम ईश्वर की महान योजना का हिस्सा हैं और उन्होंने हमें चुना है ताकि हम उनके प्रेम और मुक्ति का साक्ष्य अपने जीवन से दे सकें।

My dear brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus, Today’s first reading describes the blessing that Jacob gave to his sons, especially the significant blessing to Judah. Jacob prophesied that from his lineage a king would arise and that, “the scepter shall not depart from Judah.” This prophecy was ultimately fulfilled in the Lord Jesus Christ, for He came from the line of David and Judah. Here we see that God’s plan of salvation was already set, and it unfolded from generation to generation.

In the Gospel, we hear the genealogy of the Lord Jesus. Matthew wanted to show the Jews that Jesus is indeed the promised Messiah, the descendant of Abraham and David. This genealogy reminds us that God works through history. Both readings today give us the message that Jesus is not merely a historical figure, but the fulfillment of God’s plan of salvation. His coming was not by chance; it was the fulfillment of God’s promise from Abraham to David, and from David to Mary and Joseph.

When we meditate on this genealogy, we realize that God’s plan is orderly and profound. For the Jews, their lineage and ancestry were of great importance, but according to Saint Luke, the genealogy of Jesus goes back even to Adam. This shows that Jesus is not only the Savior of the Jews, but of the whole of humanity. Our root and foundation are in the Lord Jesus. We do not rely on our ancestry or human glory, but on the Lord’s choice and His call. Therefore, we must live with the awareness that we are part of God’s great plan and that He has chosen us to bear witness to His love and salvation through our lives.
