प्रिय भाइयों और बहनों, अक्सर हमसे अपेक्षा की जाती है कि हम लोगों की उम्मीदों के अनुसार व्यवहार करें। जब हम ऐसा करते हैं, तो वे हमें अच्छा कहते हैं और स्वीकार करते हैं। लेकिन जब हम उनकी उम्मीदों पर खरे नहीं उतरते, तो क्या होता है?

आज के सुसमाचार में, येसु हमें बताते हैं कि लोग उनके और योहन बपतिस्ता के खिलाफ कैसे असंगत शिकायतें करते हैं। वे येसु को पापियों का दोस्त कहकर "पेटू" कहते हैं, और योहन को सख्त होने पर दोष देते हैं क्योंकि वह जश्न में शामिल नहीं होता। वे दोनों तरह के जीवन को अस्वीकार करते हैं, जिससे उनकी आत्म-धार्मिकता जाहिर होती है। वे चाहते हैं कि येसु और योहन उनकी मर्जी से चलें, न कि ईश्वर की।

परंतु, इसायाह हमें याद दिलाते हैं कि “मैं प्रभु, तुम्हारा ईश्वर हूँ। मैं तुम्हें कल्याण की बातें बतलाता हूँ और मार्ग में तुम्हारा पथप्रदर्शन करता हूँ।” (इसायाह 48:17)

इसका मतलब है कि हमें अपने जीवन में ईश्वर को पहले स्थान देना चाहिए और अपनी इच्छाओं के बजाय उसकी योजना को मानना चाहिए।

अब आत्मनिरीक्षण करें:
· क्या मैं चाहता हूँ कि ईश्वर मेरी मर्जी से कार्य करें?
· क्या मैं उसकी इच्छा मानकर उसकी राह पर चलने को तैयार हूँ?

जब हम ईश्वर को पहले रखते हैं, तो वह हमें भरपूर आशीर्वाद देता है, जैसे उसने अब्राहम, याकूब, यूसुफ और दाऊद को दिया। येसु ने हमें दिखाया कि सच्चा मिशन दूसरों के लिए खुद को समर्पित करना है, न कि केवल अपनी इच्छाओं को पूरा करना।

आइए हम प्रार्थना करें कि ईश्वर हमें उसकी इच्छा स्वीकार करने की कृपा दें, उसके मार्ग पर सच्चाई से चलने का साहस दें, और उसकी प्रेम और बलिदान के साधन बनाएं।

Dear Friends, often, people expect us to behave according to their standards. When we do, they call us good and accept us. But what happens when we don’t meet their expectations?

In today’s Gospel, Jesus points out the unreasonable complaints of the people. They criticize Him for being friendly with sinners and call Him a glutton, while they blame John the Baptist for being too strict and not joining in feasts. They reject both ways of living, revealing their self-righteousness. They want Jesus and John to act according to their own ideas, not God’s.

In contrast, Isaiah reminds us, “I am the Lord your God, who teaches you for your own good, who leads you in the way you should go.” (Isaiah 48:17) This calls us to place God first in our lives and allow Him to work through us not to follow our own desires.

Let us reflect honestly: Do I want God to act according to my wishes, or am I willing to obey Him and follow His plans?

Placing God before ourselves brings abundant blessings, just as He blessed Abraham, Jacob, Joseph, and David. Jesus took this further by showing us that true mission involves self-sacrifice for others and not simply pursuing our own feelings or desires. May we pray for the grace to accept God’s will, to walk faithfully in His ways, and to be instruments of His love and sacrifice in the world.
