प्रिय भाइयों और बहनों, आज के सुसमाचार में येसु खोई हुई भेड़ की दृष्टांत सुनाते हैं। जब शिष्यों ने पूछा कि स्वर्ग के राज्य में सबसे बड़ा कौन है, तब येसु ने यह दृष्टांत कहकर समझाया कि ईश्वर की नजरों में हर व्यक्ति अनमोल है।

चरवाहा अपनी 99 भेड़ों को छोड़कर एक भटकी हुई भेड़ की खोज में निकलता है। जब वह उसे पा लेता है, तो बहुत आनंदित होता है। यह दिखाता है कि ईश्वर हर खोई आत्मा को प्रेम करते हैं, और जब वह लौटती है तो स्वर्ग में आनंद होता है।

अब हमें स्वयं से पूछना है:
· क्या मैं उन 99 में से हूँ जो ईश्वर के निकट हैं?
· या क्या मैं वह एक भेड़ हूँ जो कहीं भटक गई है?
· या क्या मैं चरवाहे के समान दूसरों को ढूंढ़ने और वापस लाने को तैयार हूँ?

पहला पाठ (इसायाह 40:3) कहता है: “निर्जन प्रदेश में प्रभु का मार्ग तैयार करो। हमारे ईश्वर के लिए मैदान में रास्ता सीधा कर दो।” जैसे योहन बपतिस्ता ने मसीह का मार्ग तैयार किया, वैसे ही हमें भी अपने जीवन, शब्दों और कर्मों से दूसरों को ईश्वर तक लाना है।

प्रिय मित्रों, सच्ची महानता दूसरों को प्रेम, दया और आशा देने में है। हमारी बुलाहट केवल अपनी आत्मा की चिंता करना नहीं, बल्कि दूसरों को साथ लेकर ईश्वर के राज्य की ओर बढ़ना है। आइए हम प्रार्थना करें कि प्रभु हमें वह अनुग्रह दें जिससे हम खुद भी ईश्वर के निकट रहें और दूसरों को भी उनके पास ला सकें।

Dear Friends, in today’s Gospel, Jesus shares the parable of the lost sheep in response to a question: “Who is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven?” (Matthew 18:1). Rather than pointing to the strong or the righteous, Jesus highlights the value of the one who is lost.

The shepherd leaves the ninety-nine sheep to search for the one that strayed. Is this lost sheep the greatest? Or are the ninety-nine? The answer is neither but both. For God, each person is equally valuable. He knows and loves all, yet rejoices when even one soul returns to Him.

So, where do we see ourselves in this story? Are we among the ninety-nine, safe and faithful? Are we the one who has wandered? Or are we called to be like the shepherd to seek the lost?

Isaiah reminds us of our mission: “A voice cries out: In the wilderness prepare the way of the Lord…” (Isaiah 40:3). Just as John the Baptist prepared the way for Christ, we too are called to lead others to God through our actions, words, and daily witness. Being a disciple of Christ is not just about our own salvation. It’s about how many we bring with us into God’s Kingdom. The true greatness in God’s eyes lies in loving, seeking, and restoring others.

Let us reflect: Do I reach out to those who have strayed? Do I create paths of mercy and hope in others’ lives? May the Lord give us the grace to walk His path and to guide others along the way.
