आज पवित्र कलीसिया निष्कलंक गर्भाधान (Immaculate Conception) के महापर्व को मनाती है। यह धन्य कुँवारी मरियम से संबंधित चार मुख्य धर्मसिद्धांतों (dogmas) में से एक है। यह विश्वास हमें सिखाता है कि मरियम को उनके गर्भाधान के क्षण से ही आदिपाप (original sin) से पूरी तरह बचा लिया गया था। यह एक विशेष कृपा और विशेषाधिकार था, जो उन्हें येसु मसीह, मानव जाति के उद्धारकर्ता, के गुणों के कारण मिला।

आज के सुसमाचार (लूका 1:26–38) में, स्वर्गदूत गेब्रियल मरियम का अभिवादन करते हैं: “प्रणाम, प्रभु की कृपापात्री! प्रभु आपके साथ है।” यह अभिवादन मरियम की अनूठी स्थिति को प्रकट करता है। वे “कृपापात्री” हैं क्योंकि ईश्वर ने उन्हें अपने पुत्र की माता बनने के लिए चुना और पहले से तैयार किया। उनका पापरहित जीवन और ईश्वर की इच्छा के प्रति सम्पूर्ण समर्पण उन्हें उद्धारकर्ता को धारण करने के लिए योग्य बनाता है।

पहला पाठ (उत्पत्ति 3:9–15, 20) हमें हेवा और मरियम के बीच का अंतर दिखाता है। हेवा, जो बिना पाप के बनाई गई थीं, उसने आज्ञा उल्लंघन किया और पाप को संसार में प्रवेश दिया। लेकिन मरियम ने पूरी निष्ठा और आज्ञाकारिता के साथ ईश्वर की योजना को स्वीकार किया। इसलिए उन्हें “नई हेवा” कहा जाता है, क्योंकि उनके “हाँ” के द्वारा येसु मसीह के रूप में उद्धार संसार में आया।

दूसरे पाठ (एफ़ेसियों 1:3–6, 11–12) में संत पौलुस हमें याद दिलाते हैं कि हम भी मसीह में पवित्र और निष्कलंक बनने के लिए चुने गए हैं। मसीह के दुःखभोग, मृत्यु और पुनरुत्थान के द्वारा हम ईश्वर की संतान बन गए हैं, और अनुग्रह में जीने के लिए बुलाए गए हैं।

धन्य कुँवारी मरियम सभी विश्वासियों के लिए एक आदर्श और प्रेरणा हैं। उनका पवित्र, विनम्र और आज्ञाकारी जीवन हमें दिखाता है कि ईश्वर की कृपा से एक धर्ममय जीवन जीना संभव है। हम भी मरियम के उदाहरण का अनुसरण करें, ईश्वर की इच्छा में स्थिर रहें, और प्रतिदिन पवित्रता में आगे बढ़ें। प्रभु हमें यह अनुग्रह दें कि हम मरियम की तरह ईश्वर के प्रति सच्चे बने रहें और उनके मार्ग पर चलें।

My dear brothers and sisters, Today, Holy Mother Church celebrates the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, one of the four dogmas concerning the Blessed Virgin Mary. This dogma affirms that Mary was preserved free from all stain of original sin from the very moment of her conception, by a singular grace and privilege granted by God, in view of the merits of Jesus Christ, the Saviour of the human race.

In the Gospel (Luke 1:26–38), the angel Gabriel greets Mary with the words, “Hail, favoured one! The Lord is with you.” This greeting reveals her unique status before God. She is “full of grace,” chosen and prepared by God to be the mother of His Son. Her sinlessness and total openness to God's will made her the perfect vessel to bear the Saviour.

The First Reading (Genesis 3:9–15, 20) presents a contrast between Mary and Eve. While Eve, who was also created without sin, disobeyed God and introduced sin into the world, Mary remained faithful and obedient. She is rightly called the New Eve, for through her "yes" to God, salvation entered the world in the person of Jesus Christ.

In the Second Reading (Ephesians 1:3–6, 11–12), St. Paul reminds us that, in Christ, we too have been chosen and called to be holy and blameless before God. Through Christ’s passion, death, and resurrection accomplished once and for all (cf. Hebrews 10:14) we have become adopted sons and daughters of God, called to live in the freedom of grace.

The Blessed Virgin Mary serves as a model and inspiration for all the faithful. Her life of purity, humility, and obedience shows us that with God’s grace, it is possible to live a life pleasing to Him. As children of God, we are invited to remain in this state of grace and strive for holiness. May the Lord grant us the grace to follow Mary's example, to remain faithful to His will, and to grow daily in holiness.
