प्रिय भाइयों और बहनों, आज की दुनिया में हर कोई शांति की तलाश में है—चाहे वह एक शांत वातावरण हो, समाज हो, या हमारे अपने दिल की शांति। हम परिवारों, समुदायों और देशों में साथ रहते हैं, फिर भी अक्सर शांति का अभाव महसूस होता है। इसका कारण है बढ़ती प्रतिस्पर्धा, नफ़रत, अहंकार और समाज में बढ़ता विभाजन।

आज के सुसमाचार में, योहन बपतिस्ता येसु के लिए मार्ग तैयार करता है जो सच्चे "शांति के राजा" के रूप में आते हैं। वह पवित्र आत्मा और आग के साथ आते हैं। योहन गवाही देता है कि येसु बुराई को हराकर सच्ची शांति लाएंगे। उनके राज्य में वही शांति होगी जिसकी हम सभी को तलाश है।

पहला पाठ इसायाह अध्याय 11 से एक सुंदर चित्र प्रस्तुत करता है: “भेड़िया मेमने के साथ रहेगा, चीता बकरी की बगल में लेट जायेगा, बछड़ा तथा सिंह-शावक साथ-साथ चरेंगे और बालक उन्हें हाँक कर ले चलेगा।” यह दर्शन एक ऐसे संसार का वर्णन करता है जहाँ नफ़रत या शत्रुता नहीं रहेगी, बल्कि प्राकृतिक शत्रु भी सद्भाव में रहेंगे। यही स्थायी शांति है जिसकी ईश्वर हम सबके लिए इच्छा रखते हैं।

दूसरे पाठ में संत पौलुस रोमियों को एकता में जीने के लिए प्रोत्साहित करते हैं: “ईश्वर ही धैर्य तथा सान्त्वना का स्रोत है। वह आप लोगों को यह वरदान दे कि आप मसीह की शिक्षा के अनुसार आपस में मेल-मिलाप बनाये रखें, जिससे आप लोग एकचित्त हो कर एक स्वर से हमारे प्रभु ईसा मसीह के ईश्वर तथा पिता की स्तुति करते रहें।” (रोमियों 15:5–6)

प्रिय मित्रों, हम सबको इस शांति को अपनाने और उसमें जीने के लिए बुलाया गया है—न केवल अपने कल्याण के लिए, बल्कि ईश्वर की महिमा के लिए, जैसे येसु ने अपने पूरे जीवन में किया।

My dear brothers and sisters, In today’s world, everyone is searching for peace—whether it be a peaceful environment, society, or heart. Although we live together in families, communities, and nations, peace often feels missing. This lack is caused by rising competition, hatred, ego, and division in our society.

In today’s Gospel, John the Baptist prepares the way for Jesus the true King of Peace who comes with the Holy Spirit and fire. John testifies that Jesus will bring genuine peace by defeating evil. In His Kingdom, true peace will reign which is the peace we all long for.

The first reading from Isaiah chapter 11 gives us a beautiful image of this peace: “The wolf shall live with the lamb, the leopard shall lie down with the kid, the calf and the lion and the fatling together.” This vision describes a world without hatred or enmity, where even natural enemies live in harmony. That is the lasting peace God desires for us.

In the second reading, St. Paul encourages the Romans to live in unity: “May the God of steadfastness and encouragement grant you to live in harmony with one another, in accordance with Christ Jesus, so that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Romans 15:5–6)

Dear friends, we are all called to inherit and live this peace, not only for our own well-being but to glorify God, just as Jesus did throughout His life.
