प्रिय भाइयों और बहनों, आज का सुसमाचार हमें विश्वास और नम्रता की एक गहरी शिक्षा देता है। एक शतपति, जो स्वयं अधिकार और शक्ति का अधिकारी था, वह येसु के पास अत्यन्त नम्र होकर आता है। वह अपने बीमार सेवक के लिए याचना करता है और कहता है, “प्रभु, मैं योग्य नहीं हूँ कि आप मेरे घर आएं, केवल एक शब्द कह दीजिए और मेरा सेवक चंगा हो जाएगा।” यह वचन उसके अटूट विश्वास और पूर्ण भरोसे को प्रकट करता है। येसु उसके विश्वास पर अचम्भित हुए और उसे सराहा। यह हमें सिखाता है कि ईश्वर के सामने हमें अपनी योग्यता या शक्ति दिखाने की आवश्यकता नहीं, बल्कि नम्र विश्वास और भरोसा ही हमें उद्धार के निकट लाता है।

हमारे जीवन में भी कई बार हम सोचते हैं कि हमारी प्रार्थना तभी सुनी जाएगी जब हम बड़े काम करेंगे या विशेष योग्य होंगे। परन्तु प्रभु हमसे केवल सच्चा और नम्र विश्वास चाहते हैं। जब हम नम्रता से कहते हैं कि “प्रभु, मैं योग्य नहीं हूँ, परन्तु आप चाहेंगे तो सब सम्भव है,” तब ईश्वर की शक्ति हमारे जीवन में कार्य करती है। इस आगमन के समय हमें भी शतपति के विश्वास का अनुसरण करना है—अपने परिवार, समाज और कार्यक्षेत्र में येसु को आमंत्रित करना है। प्रभु के आगमन की तैयारी केवल बाहरी नहीं, बल्कि आंतरिक है—हृदय को खोलना, विश्वास में दृढ़ रहना और आशा में आगे बढ़ना।

My dear brothers and sisters, today’s Gospel gives us a beautiful example of humility and faith. A Roman centurion, though a man of power and authority, comes before Jesus with deep humility. He pleads for his sick servant and says, “Lord, I am not worthy that You should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my servant will be healed.” These words reveal his great trust and complete dependence on Jesus. The Lord was amazed at his faith and praised him, saying that such faith had not been found even in Israel. This shows us that what touches God’s heart is not our status or ability, but our humble trust in Him.

In our own lives, we sometimes think that God listens to us only when we do great things or prove ourselves worthy. But Jesus teaches us that true faith is enough—faith that believes even when we cannot see, faith that trusts even when we feel unworthy. During this Advent season, we too are invited to learn from the centurion: to welcome Christ into our homes, families, and hearts with humility and trust. Preparing for the coming of the Lord is not just about external actions, but about opening our hearts in faith and living with hope. If we hold firm to such faith, then the Lord’s presence will surely bring healing, peace, and salvation into our lives.
