“धन और अनंत जीवन”
आज के सुसमाचार में एक धनी युवक येसु के पास आकर पूछता है, “गुरुवर, अनंत जीवन प्राप्त करने के लिए मैं कौन-सा भला कार्य करूँ?”
येसु उसे आज्ञाओं का पालन करने को कहते हैं। युवक कहता है कि वह बचपन से ही इनका पालन कर रहा है। फिर येसु कहते हैं, “यदि तुम पूर्ण होना चाहते हो तो अपनी सारी संपत्ति बेचकर गरीबों को दे दो और आकर मेरे पीछे चलो।”
यह सुनकर धनी युवक उदास होकर चला जाता है क्योंकि उसके पास बहुत संपत्ति थी।
“Riches and Eternal Life”
In today’s Gospel, a rich young man comes to Jesus and asks, “Teacher, what good deed must I do to obtain eternal life?”
Jesus tells him to keep the commandments. The young man replies that he has kept them since his childhood. Then Jesus says, “If you wish to be perfect, go, sell all your possessions, give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”
Hearing this, the young man went away sorrowful, for he had great wealth.
Jesus asked him to sell everything because riches often become the root of sin — leading to envy, greed, pride, and attachment. In today’s world, we still see this reality: the rich want more, while the poor often live with greater peace, entrusting everything to God.
This Gospel challenges us: Are we ready to let go of what binds us and follow Christ completely with a detached and generous heart?
