“सत्य के लिए साहस”

आज के पहले पाठ में याजक और नबी यिर्मयाह को प्राणदण्ड के योग्य ठहराते हैं। लेकिन यिर्मयाह ईश्वर पर पूरा विश्वास रखते हैं कि वह उन्हें हर परेशानी से बचाएगा।
आज का सुसमाचार संत मत्ती 14:1-12 में राजा हेरोद योहन बपतिस्ता का सिर कटवा देते हैं, अपने अहंकार और कामुकता के कारण।
आजकल जो प्रभु का प्रचार करते हैं उन्हें विभिन्न प्रकार के विरोध का सामना करना पड़ता है, कई तो अपना जीवन भी गंवा देते हैं। प्रभु कहते हैं, “जो अपना जीवन सुरक्षित रखना चाहता है वह उसे खो देगा, और जो मेरे कारण अपना जीवन खो देता है वह उसे पा लेगा।”
जो व्यक्ति प्रभु के शब्दों पर विश्वास रखेगा, प्रभु उसे कृपा और अनंत जीवन प्रदान करेंगे।
“Courage for Truth”
Today’s first reading describes how the priests and prophets conspire to put Jeremiah to death. Yet Jeremiah trusts in God who will deliver him from every trouble.
In the Gospel from Matthew 14:1-12, King Herod has John the Baptist beheaded due to his pride and sinful desires.
Those who preach the Lord’s message today face all kinds of opposition, and some even lose their lives. The Lord says, “Whoever wants to save their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it.” Those who trust in the Lord’s words will receive His grace and eternal life.
Facing death for his temple warning, Jeremiah trusts that God will not hand him over. The officials urge his acquittal, recognizing his words as true prophecy from the Lord, and he is saved from the mob’s fury.
Herod, troubled by John’s bold rebuke of his unlawful marriage, imprisons and beheads him on a rash oath prompted by Herodias’ daughter’s dance. They bury the prophet with honor.
These contrasting stories show how voices of truth are either vindicated or silenced by power: Jeremiah is spared through God’s wisdom, while John is martyred by sinful whims. They call us to speak righteousness fearlessly, knowing that God defends His servants. Let us mourn the lost prophets and pursue justice against corrupt authority.
