“सेवा, विनम्रता और पवित्र यूखरिस्त का रहस्य”
यहूदी परम्परा के अनुसार पैर धोना कोई नई बात नहीं थी। यह कार्य सामान्यतः सेवकों द्वारा किया जाता था। कुछ दिन पहले शिष्यों में यह विवाद हुआ था कि उनमें सबसे बड़ा कौन है। तब प्रभु येसु ने उन्हें सिखाया था कि जो बड़ा होना चाहता है, वह सेवक बने और जो प्रधान होना चाहता है, वह सबका दास बने।
इसी शिक्षा को व्यवहार में दिखाने के लिए अंतिम भोज के समय प्रभु येसु ने स्वयं परात में पानी लिया और अपने शिष्यों के पैर धोने लगे। यह केवल एक कार्य नहीं था, बल्कि विनम्रता, प्रेम और सेवा का जीवंत उदाहरण था।
पैर धोने के बाद प्रभु ने कहा, “यदि मैंने, जो तुम्हारा प्रभु और गुरु हूँ, तुम्हारे पैर धोए हैं, तो तुम्हें भी एक-दूसरे के पैर धोना चाहिए। मैंने तुम्हें उदाहरण दिया है, ताकि जैसा मैंने तुम्हारे साथ किया है, वैसा ही तुम भी करो।”
आज ही के दिन प्रभु येसु ने पवित्र पुरोहिताई और पवित्र यूखरिस्त की स्थापना की। यूखरिस्त वह अनन्त पास्का है जिसमें हमें सहभागी बनने के लिए बुलाया गया है। यह केवल एक स्मरण नहीं, बल्कि प्रभु की उपस्थिति और उनके प्रेम का जीवित अनुभव है।
इसलिए हमें अपने हृदयों को शुद्ध करना चाहिए, पाप से दूर होना चाहिए और विनम्रता तथा सेवा की भावना को अपनाना चाहिए। तभी हम प्रभु के इस महान रहस्य में सच्चे अर्थों में सहभागी बन सकेंगे।
इस पवित्र दिवस पर आइए हम प्रभु के उदाहरण का अनुसरण करें, दूसरों की सेवा करें, विनम्र बनें और श्रद्धा के साथ पवित्र यूखरिस्त ग्रहण करें।
“The Call to Humility, Service and the Eucharist”
On this Holy Thursday, we reflect on the profound events of the Last Supper. According to Jewish custom, the washing of feet was a task reserved for servants. Yet Jesus, the Master and Lord, chose to wash the feet of His disciples.
Through this powerful gesture, Jesus demonstrated that true greatness is found not in power or status, but in humble service. He had already taught His disciples that whoever wishes to be first must become the servant of all. Now, He gives them a living example.
After washing their feet, Jesus said, “If I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. I have given you an example, that you also should do as I have done to you.”
This Gospel also invites us to examine our own relationship with the Lord. Like John, are we remaining close to the heart of Jesus? Like Peter, are we struggling but still trying to follow Him faithfully? Or are we allowing darkness to enter our hearts like Judas?
Holy Thursday is also the day on which Jesus instituted the Holy Eucharist and the priesthood. The Eucharist is the eternal Passover through which Christ continues to nourish His Church and offer Himself for our salvation.
As we approach the altar, we are called to prepare our hearts worthily. We must cleanse ourselves from sin, grow in humility, and become people of loving service. Receiving the Eucharist should transform us into living witnesses of Christ's presence in the world.
May this sacred celebration deepen our love for Jesus, strengthen our faith, and inspire us to serve others with humility and joy.
